Brand new AX86U slow wired & wifi

You have a 1.2Gb plan from your ISP. I'm not sure what you are looking for from the Asus router. If you have other clients connected to your router that are accessing the internet connection then you would expect your throughput to be less than if you have one device that you are testing...

    Firmware Update for AX86U (8-31-2021)

They have given him credit. I remember seeing Asus reference RMerlin in previous firmware updates for Asus AC routers.

    Firmware Update for AX86U (8-31-2021)

@bbunge Wiregaurd VPN sounds intriguing. :D I am wondering what ever happened to that past reported channel extension coming to the 5Ghz band.

Brand new AX86U slow wired & wifi

You are moving in the right direction. Updating the firmware to the very latest version was a good idea. You said you are using CAT7 Ethernet cable going to the modem and your computer. That's always something to look at but it sounds like you have that covered. If the LG TV you are streaming to...

Brand new AX86U slow wired & wifi

If wireless streaming is your only disconnection problem then that is specifically what needs to be focused on in your settings. What wireless device are you streaming to.... what model and what are it's capabilities N, AC, AX, etc.? What frequency is that device using... 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz? Post...

Brand new AX86U slow wired & wifi

I am guessing that you are new to Asus routers. You want to set up this router with mostly default settings with a few exceptions. I would disable Smart Connect. Make sure you have to separate SSIDs for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz channels. Don't enable WPA3 (use WPA2). Don't enable IPV6 from it's default...

    Firmware Update for AX86U (8-31-2021)

The best under $300 USD router on the market is getting better all the time!

Upgrading RT-AC66U to either RT-AX68U or RT-AX86U, worth it?

@Tech9 If you are going to purchase a new router that is going to make a noticeable performance improvement worth bothering to pay for then the best value right now is the AX86U. If you want a basic router then keep your current router or pay $40 USD on Ebay for a slightly better used AC router...

Upgrading RT-AC66U to either RT-AX68U or RT-AX86U, worth it?

Of course... and if you go back and read my replies I recommended keeping the current router until he is ready to spend the money on the AX86U or newer/better router since he wouldn't see enough of a performance difference to justify the purchase. The AC68U is a waste of money because it's...

Upgrading RT-AC66U to either RT-AX68U or RT-AX86U, worth it?

I defined what I considered "best" in earlier posts in this thread. It was an overall combination of price, performance, hardware, features, reliability, connectivity, footprint, flexibility (Merlin support). In the history of Asus wireless routers I believe the AX86U is the best overall router...

Upgrading RT-AC66U to either RT-AX68U or RT-AX86U, worth it?

From what I have read that's the only SNB member in another country that I read had an issue. Most other SNB members are not reporting those problems. We aren't discussing enterprise grade routers in this forum. This is a forum for consumer grade wireless routers. I have friends that use...

Upgrading RT-AC66U to either RT-AX68U or RT-AX86U, worth it?

I am enjoying my routers. I want other users to enjoy the same great routers which is why I tell those in this forum who ask for opinions on what Asus router to purchase... that I believe the AX86U is the best overall wireless router Asus has ever made up until now. I don't play word games or...

Upgrading RT-AC66U to either RT-AX68U or RT-AX86U, worth it?

I have retired my AC68Ps and AC1900P. I doubt a firmware upgrade is going to to much to change the radio hardware itself which is the core issue. The range on the AX86U is far superior to the AC68U and it's two core AC variants especially with 5Ghz. If range is the most important thing to you...

Upgrading RT-AC66U to either RT-AX68U or RT-AX86U, worth it?

There are more AC68u variants out there because they Asus has been releasing those variants for the last eight years. Popularity alone and how long it's been available doesn't make it the best current router you can buy or the best router ever made by Asus up until now. However if you were...

Upgrading RT-AC66U to either RT-AX68U or RT-AX86U, worth it?

The best overall router Asus has ever made up until this point in time is NOT the AC68U. I owned it and it's variants for many years. There are reasons I replaced ALL SEVEN of them with the RT-AX86U. Otherwise I would have kept using them. The AC68U and variants for me had connectivity issues...

Upgrading RT-AC66U to either RT-AX68U or RT-AX86U, worth it?

"....and sorry but most would agree it's not the AC68U." was a response to The original question I asked Tech9 was what he thought the best consumer wireless router Asus ever made was and then the question narrowed to the best Asus router you can currently purchase for less than $300 USD. He...

    Intermittent internet disconnects on AX86U

I believe what @Tech9 is saying is that if you are using their equipment in the way they specify and you get the internet drops then Spectrum will be obligated to fix the problem without excuses. I don't know what region you are located in with Spectrum service but I can assure you that due to...

    Intermittent internet disconnects on AX86U

    1) This is a special setting for Spectrum/Charter Internet that many Asus router owners use... Solved 3 Asus Routers doing the same thing. About to drop ASUS. Help!!!!

I've never heard of your so called "psycho mode" problem with Asus routers before this thread. I've heard of power fluctuation related problems, failing hardware, bad quality cabling, router settings problems, router setup problems, ISP service problems, firmware bugs and LAN topography problems...
