    Fairly new to mesh

You would be better having your cameras on the 2.4ghz band as this has the longest range. This leaves the 5ghz band free for your main devices that will benefit from increased speeds.

AX 160mhz vs 80mhz (battery usage)

Thanks for the replies. I decided to go back to 160mhz. As the AX channel is shared with the backhaul, it makes sense to have it connected at 2.4gb/s as this is just over double the speed of my WAN (1gbps).

AX 160mhz vs 80mhz (battery usage)

No. I'm talking about saving battery life on the mobile devices so they last longer between charges. I was wondering if having more streams caused a noticable drain?

AX 160mhz vs 80mhz (battery usage)

Hoping to expand a little more on this. My specific router (RTAX92u) has the following options on the AX band 4x4:4 (160mhz) vs 2x2:2 (80mhz). How much more power would 4 streams use compared to 2 streams? Would this extra power usage be mitigated by the fact data is transfered faster?

Wired backhaul AX AiMesh nodes, how to configure for 160Mhz/DFS when AX Router is also set for 160Mhz/DFS

You can log into your nodes admin page and change the settings there. I think it's somewhere in the AI mesh under the management tab for that node. However, as others have stated, the settings should propagate to the nodes automatically.

    Wifi Scheduling kills 160mhz

You can force your router to use 160 mhz only as opposed to 40/80/160mhz. Also, manually set the control channel. This will prevent it dropping down to 80mhz. As L&LD stated, it will take 10 mins to enable a 160mhz channel if its DFS. It's something to do with the rules of using DFS channels...

AX 160mhz vs 80mhz (battery usage)

When on 160mhz, the newer devices get around 950mb/s (1gbps WAN). With 80mhz, it's only 400mb/s. I can't actually notice any difference in perceived speed (Samsung galaxy s22 ultra and various iphones). Browsing is just as snappy. Netflix UHD starts streaming instantaneously with 400mb/s and...

AX 160mhz vs 80mhz (battery usage)

I'm curious if anybody has done any testing on battery usage for 160mhz vs 80mhz AX. I recently switched down to 80mhz channels and have noticed an increase in battery life on my phone. It's only been one day so it could just be a coincidence.

    Using AiMesh wired/wireless backhaul settings...

To get my hack working (clients sharing the faster 5g2 with the backhaul) I have to setup my router in triband mode (with an ethernet backhaul) and then set the preference to wireless, then enable shared AX client access. Once this is done, I remove the ethernet cable connecting the backhaul...

    Release ASUS RT-AX92U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.46061 - 2022/01/20

Asus should still support us with security patches, even if they do have newer and better products. I do not want to be forced into buying a new router when this one works fine.

AX58u - Samsung phone slows to either 50 or 150mbps until wifi restarted?

This sounds like a powersave setting on the phone. My Dell laptop laptop does this when running on batteries. I never bothered to fix it as I want as much battery life as possible.

    AX68U 5Ghz dropping and AX68U vs AX92U

The AX92u 2.4ghz band will only give you 100 mb/s. I nearlly didn't buy mine because of this let down. However, it performs so well in other areas. The 2.4ghz band has great range m (far more than my previous netgear AP's). It's great for IOT devices which don't need a lot of bandwidth. As...

AX86U - what to use as mesh node

Go for a proper mesh node such as the XT8. I use AX92u's and they have been working great. XT8's are newer but the performance is similar.

    Release ASUS RT-AX92U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.46061 - 2022/01/20

It doesn't make sense to phase out the AX92u yet. The XT12 has only just came out. As for firmware, there's much older routers that still get updates.

    GT-AX6000 vs GT-AXE16000 question

If it uses the same SOC it should offer similar performance. One thing which is often overlooked is the SoC. I'm pretty certain the 2.2ghz is the fast cpu. However things are not equal. For example the dual core 1.8ghz is faster than the quad core 1.8ghz. If you get the ax16000, test the ping...

ASUS RT-AX92U AiMesh loses considerable speed out to the devices

You need to enable 160mhz on the backhaul and then give the clients access to share the backhaul. That will give you 1gbps.

drastic speed difference ethernet AP vs ethernet Aimesh

It sounds like you have 2 problems 1. Your nodes are not set to prefer ethernet in the AImesh configuration. 2. The wireless network used for the backhaul is not setup to take advantage of 160mhz channels You should be seeing around 900mb/s, even with a wireless backhaul. On my AX92'u, you...

    AiMesh GT-AX11000 + AX92U - wrong DFS channel 160MHz

Lots of DFS activity in Europe over the last few weeks. It's related to the war in Ukraine. I too have started seeing DFS events on channels that have been clear for nearlly 2 years.

    Asus Zenwifi XT12 vs XT8

We need to expand. Therefore, I'm guessing XT12's is the next step up from the AX92u's. From what I can tell, the XT8 has a slower system chip than the AX92u. I'm surprised at the lacklustre launch of this product. A flag ship product is on the market today, yet there is only 2 YouTube reviews...

    Best AiMesh configuration

It depends how you arre connecting them. If you are using wireless backhaul, you would be better off with one of the AX92u's as the main router. The AX92u chipset offers lower wifi latency compared to the AX86u and XT8, this will improve pings for the clients. In addition, it's also a tri...
