[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

Yep. AC3100 is still 20379, from 21 Feb.

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

Thought about that. Just using 2.4GHz band at the extremes right now, but even that is a bit spotty. The yard is probably crap, but I won't really know for another month or so. Hopefully the next firmware will hit soon and I'll just start from scratch. I also snagged an actual dual band repeater...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

OK, cool. Thank you for clarifying. I've taken my node offline for the time being. It started dropping my clients pretty regularly, or at least often enough that it was annoying. I'm hoping to reset everything to factory and start over with the next release to see if anything gets better. If...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

Still not up for AC3100. I thought updates usually rolled out for all routers at the same time. Is this staged roll out typical?

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

I'm not seeing anything like that in my system log. In fact, I'm not seeing much of anything. Mar 17 08:00:41 dnsmasq-dhcp[349]: Ignoring domain bc.local for DHCP host name BCCES31-HP This is repeated over and over. This is definitely my work laptop, and from what I can tell, it means it's...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

When you say wifi drops, what exactly are you experiencing? I just last night started seeing my node randomly drop wifi for an instant, which kicks whatever clients are on it. I have a wifi cam monitor and often use Netflix when connected to my node. Both video signals will die (one is on 2.4...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

Is that what that is!? If that was documented somewhere, I'm gonna feel like a damn fool for missing it, because that would explain why I see my node listed twice on my clients list. I have it hooked up with a wired backhaul and both bands are active. That also explains why it seemingly came out...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

No. It had pre AiMesh firmware and the problems still existed. That's the point. The addition of AiMesh did not cause the problem. It was there from whatever was installed at the factory (I don't recall which version).

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

I'm not going to argue, but when the issue was present BEFORE AiMesh, I don't think AiMesh is the problem. That is my point, and one you seem to overlook. It has been a consistent problem for me since the thing came out of the box. Whether or not anyone else has reported it doesn't matter...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

And I've seen lots of reports of issues with AiMesh syncing, speeds, stability, etc, and I don't have any of those. Doesn't make them less real. Maybe I should have factory reset a factory fresh router, but that seems pretty counterintuitive, since it doesn't get more "factory" then taking it...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

But this isn't just an AiMesh issue. I had clients showing double BEFORE AiMesh was ever a thing. That's what you're missing. It has nothing to do with AiMesh and the bug existed out of the box. AiMesh didn't cause the problem. This is a firmware thread, not strictly an AiMesh thread. AiMesh...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

Well, if it came with a bum configuration from the factory, that's pretty bad. That aside, it takes more than 15 minutes to reset and get everything back the way it was before reset. And that's even assuming everything goes right, which as we've seen here, isn't always the case. If these issues...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

I see no reason to reset if at least one of these problems existed since it came out of the box from the factory, so I guess we're in disagreement about this :-)

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

I've had the second problem since I installed the router with whatever firmware it came with, so that was fresh out of the box. In fact, if I reset the router for any reason, it will show the device once at the IP I assigned it. At some point, it goes to two devices at whatever address it feels...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

I'd add two things to this list (2x AC-RT3100, one node in AiMesh): 1) Node is showing as 2x clients for me in the client table. It's at the correct IP address, but shouldn't show up at all, let alone twice for one unit. 2) Devices that are assigned a static IP using MAC address are still...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

Do you know how many attempts you made before it locked up? Previous evidence suggested only a handful of times (i.e., less than 10). I'm wondering if you saw the same. Thanks for testing and reporting back!

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

Naturally. But I would hope they'd address it. It would be the responsible thing to do.

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

Personally, I'd like to see them acknowledge the problem, rather than just saying "you need to push the button" and "your wifi scanner is just telling you it supports WPS, not that it is active," both of which have proven to be false at this point. If it's going to stay the way it is, people...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

Thank you for testing. I've been busy all day and haven't had a chance to go digging for old WPS equipment, so I appreciate the update, and even more so in the context of "eating crow." I'm not thrilled with the result, but this is not entirely surprising to me, based on everything I've read so...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

Yes, I've read up on NFC, too, though you might think this would be documented somewhere if it we're what Asus was using for setup. Your guess sounds plausible about the PIN, but I was also hoping there would be some documentation that would spell it out. If there is, I can't seem to find it...
