[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.10007 for All Supported Products

Well, @arthurlien has not stated that it is necessary, so unless they were hiding this fact, then I assume it's not actually necessary for the mesh to work. If it *is* necessary, they really shouldn't hide that fact because a) apparently even a dummy like myself can quickly tell it's on, b) it...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.10007 for All Supported Products

I'd assume you're correct (for multiple reasons), but it would be nice to either get a confirmation from @arthurlien or to just close it up. The latter would be preferred, because if I set it to off, it should be off on all the nodes. Period. There shouldn't be a need to guess the actual status...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.10007 for All Supported Products

You're obviously far more of an expert than I, but I've never known the insecurity of WPS to only be a threat if the WPS was open/the button was pressed. If that was the case, the only way to exploit it would be to have physical access to the router (which in most cases significantly reduces the...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

Maybe. But then when it was initially set up as wireless, wouldn't they be there all the time, then? Why would they only display on the client list once a hardwire was plugged in?

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

It's possible it's because it's a wired connection, since that's how I'm set up too, but I had this setup shortly after installing .10007 and never noticed it until now. Agreed that it's odd they show as wireless, not wired. Since it shouldn't be doing this in the first place, we'll just chalk...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

@arthurlien has mentioned they're going to look into it. https://www.snbforums.com/threads/official-release-aimesh-firmware-v3-0-0-4-384-20308-for-all-supported-products.44375/page-15#post-381728 Strange thing is, I never saw this until recently. It didn't start with a firmware update, either...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

Yeah, I probably should learn. I come from pre Win95 days, so I know all about using DOS and text prompts, but every time I've tried anything with Linux my brain just kind of goes wonky. Maybe I've become soft. Anyway, depending on what @arthurlien says about how long it might take to fix...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

See, I don't use telnet or SSH. I vaguely know what they are, but I'm not a linux guy, so I don't understand them completely. Also, I'm slightly concerned that modifying these directly, that it might screw things up during the next firmware upgrade, or if/when then fix this officially. I don't...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

Appreciate the suggestion, but I don't know how to do that. Frankly, I shouldn't have to know how to do it. The firmware should either allow direct node access to toggle these things, or it should propagate the settings from the router to all nodes. It shouldn't need some backdoor way to modify.

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.10007 for All Supported Products

This is my wifi analyzer. It clearly shows WPS enabled on the 2.4 GHz band for the node. I have it disabled on both bands in the router. Additionally, @dabears has said he is seeing the same, and has successfully been able to connect to WPS on his node, despite WPS being disabled on the router...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.10007 for All Supported Products

This is exactly the issue here. I apologize that I even brought anything other than WPS into this, as it seems to have confused the matter. Let's all forget about KRACK and just focus on WPS. The problem is WPS is on for all nodes regardless if it is off at the router or not. That is a problem...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

As an FYI, it would seem any AiMesh node that has WPS on, even if router is WPS set to off, is functional and thus likely vulnerable to insecurities of WPS. This is confirmed here...

Well that is upsetting. So the question to @arthurlien is, when will this be fixed?

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.10007 for All Supported Products

I know they are. I was trying to point out that *if* the WPS vulnerability exists, that's kind of upsetting because it's such an old vulnerability. Let me point blank ask you: if the router has WPS off, but the node has it on, is the network vulnerable to these old WPS vulnerabilities? If so...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.10007 for All Supported Products

    1) Does this mean the network is vulnerable to insecurities of WPS, even if off at the router? 2) If so, when will this be fixed? You just patched KRACK, and WPS vulnerabilities are much older.

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

I'm going to hold off on live update until the main server is updated with a non-corrupt file. Call me paranoid, but last thing I want is for a corrupt firmware to brick or otherwise mess up my router. I'm not in a rush to update, just surprised it wasn't able to be downloaded/uncompressed from...

I didn't even think to check that, but thanks for confirming. Hopefully they'll fix soon enough.
