    ZenWifi XT12 HW issue ?

About a week ago, one of my PCs started to have problems connecting to the internet. After switching it on, it takes about 30-90 seconds until it connects correctly. This is a large difference since it used to be almost instantaneous. At first I thought there was something with the wifi...

Best ASUS router for a large home

Just spoke to him again. As I wrote, his house is made of reinforced concrete. Walls, floors and roof. Solar cells, good insulation in a completely new house 400 square meters (roughly 4000 square feet) in 2 floors. Based on my current experience with the XT12, I would probably go for a small...

ASUS ZenWiFi Pro XT12 / USB ports on QNAP NAS through Virtual USB

Thank you Colin - you actually tried it! I thought it might be a usable workaround.... Makes me wonder why ASUS decided that there should be no USB ports on the XT12. Are there too few people using them? Too expensive to include? The XT12 are rather expensive.....

ASUS ZenWiFi Pro XT12 / USB ports on QNAP NAS through Virtual USB

Thank you Colin! I'm far from a linux expert but I will definitely try!

ASUS ZenWiFi Pro XT12 / USB ports on QNAP NAS through Virtual USB

Asus ZenWifi Pro XT12 doesn't have any USB ports. This makes it hard to run tools that needs the USB storage. Would it be possible to put a USB stick into my QNAP NAS and use its VirtualHere USB server? I can't try it out at the moment since I'm far away from my NAS and can't try it...

    ASUS ZenWiFi XT12 or ET12

I have some doubt on both the XT12 and the ET12. Maybe I'm kidnapping this thread but at least the subject line is the same. 10 weeks ago a nearby IT place had a short sale on XT12 Pros. About $700 for a pair of them. So with some hesitation, I bought them. In retrospect, I actually regret...

AiMesh: clients keep connecting to the wrong AP

Yes you are right, didn't think of that. I don't use AIMesh. I use a router and separate APs with ethernet backhaul. Works perfectly. The reason why I don't use AIMesh is that I can't control a number of things. Without mesh, I can have different bands for APs and router. I can also control...

AiMesh: clients keep connecting to the wrong AP

Reducing power on one of the nodes is a very good and simple thing to try. It has worked well for me.

    AP with wired backhaul?

OK interesting. Thank you! Learnht something new. I know the RT-AX92U is end-of-life. Got it for a good price second hand to use as an AP which works fine. It is a 3-radio and AiMesh compatible router though. I tried to connect it to my XT12 which is also 3-radio using the highest band as...

    AP with wired backhaul?

Thanks again for quick answers. Really appreciated :) Note that it is in AP mode, not repeater mode. I would like to be able to use wireless backhaul so that I can select different channels for the nodes and also reduce the transmit power on one of them. If it doesn't work I will keep the...

    AP with wired backhaul?

Yes. A free third band on both but it still doesn't work. Different SSIDs. However maybe I should change the channels used so that I try with the 5-2 Ghz as backhaul instead of 5-1. I'll try when possible.

    AP with wired backhaul?

Thanks OE, but I don't get what you mean? Can you please give me some more details?

    AP with wired backhaul?

Thanks for the quick answer!! Yes but I don't want to use AiMesh. I want to use different Wifi bands on the nodes. Seems like I can have a router set up as a bridge and then connect another router configured as an AP to the bridge with an Ethernet cable. But this feels like crossing the river...

    AP with wired backhaul?

Hi!! I am trying to set up an Rt-ax92u as an access point connected to a Zenwifi PRO XT12. It works fine, but I would like to use wireless backhaul instead of wired. Both the router and the rt-ax92u have a free 5 Ghz band that I should be able to use. However how do I configure it? Is it...

    RT-AX88U Slow Wifi signal/speed - Activate Aimesh

Place the router and the AP on different floors (diagonally as Tech9 suggests) and connect them with an ethernet cable as backhaul. Skip AImesh and use the AC86U as an AP instead. That way you will get better control of what bands you use. Use different SSIDs for the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands...

    Asus AX11000 wifi speed capped

Agree, use separate SSIDs. SmartConnect doesn't work well. My experience is that the wifi performance is always better with separate SSIDs. As soon as the client switches to 2.4, the performance deteriorates considerably.

    Strange behavior of MESH system?

So, finally.... Kept the control channel to 128(80) and reduced the transmit power from max to balanced (22 dbm). Initially, on Sunday, the neighbors channel was the same as mine. However, now on Wednesday, his has changed to 100(80) but my channel now reigns supreme on 128(80). Reducing the...

    Strange behavior of MESH system?

Good idea. Thanks! I'll reduce the transmit power to see what happens. Using the lower channels works fine, but I would like to see if there is any difference in range using the 5-2 band.

    Strange behavior of MESH system?

So 1.5 days later I'm at 116(20) this morning. So is my neighbor....... Just occurred to me that these are DFS channels. Most likely both our routers have changed the channels due to airport or weather radar interference. There is an airport about 45 kms away (about 30 miles)......

    Strange behavior of MESH system?

Hi all, thank you for your comments. I have done as you suggested. I turned off the router and AP for a couple of days and went to a Bruce Springsteen concert about 6 hours away for a couple of days ;-). There is no change - the neighbors hidden network is still there - now on channel 100(80)...
