Zenwifi Pro XT12 RSSI & connexion issues

How did you install the wireless backhaul? What cable did you use, what ports did you use and what settings did you change?

    Strange behavior of MESH system?

Does anyone have an idea or two what's going on? Maybe I should provide some more details: I am testing a Zenwifi Pro XT12 as a router and another Zenwifi Pro XT12 as an AP with wired backhaul (not 2.5 mbit/s yet but maybe later). I would like to try the 5-2 band for clients instead of the 5-1...

    Strange behavior of MESH system?

One of my neighbors has an ASUS mesh system that interferes with my ASUS router. I can see his client SSID using the tool analiti - the MAC address is 24:4B:FE.xx.xx.D4 I can also see his backhaul band, but the SSID's are hidden. The MAC addresses are 24:4B:FE.xx.xx.D7 and 24:4B:FE.xx.xx.D8...

    Time for a new router?

Yes that might be it. Will check with the ISP supplier tomorrow!

    Time for a new router?

I have a RT-AX88U that so far has performed well. However I just got a free upgrade from my ISP to 1000mbps. Seems like the router cannot handle more than about 700 mbps (down and up) with a PC connected through a cat 6 cable. Nobody else was using the connection at the time of measurement...

AiMesh setup issues with RT-AX88U and RT-AX58U. Looking for suggestions.

You can use the blacklist in AP mode to secure that a client doesn't connect. I saw someone writing that aimesh supports 802.11r. Does anyone know if this is really correct? I can't find anything about this now. AFAIK 802.11r requires a RADIUS server. Is this really included in aimesh?

AiMesh setup issues with RT-AX88U and RT-AX58U. Looking for suggestions.

Why do you need the mesh? If you use the AX88U as a router and the AX58U as an AP it will work just as well or maybe even better. You will get rid of any mesh-related problems, you can use different bands for the units and you can use Merlin FW on the router. I also recommend switching off...

AiMesh setup issues with RT-AX88U and RT-AX58U. Looking for suggestions.

Did you upgrade the FW? Could there be something related to this upgrade? You might try to skip the AImesh stuff altogether and use the AX58U in AP mode instead. That way you can use Merlin FW on the AX88U and standard FW on the AX58U. You can use different bands for the router and the AP (to...

    QTS admin access rights

Thanks sfx2000! I noticed that my new admin, although in the administrators group, does NOT automatically get access to the home directories. When enabling admin again and logging in (as admin), I did get access to the home directories. So I investigated access rights on the home directories...

    QTS admin access rights

Hmmmm searched for alternatives outside this forum. If I enable admin again, give the new admin access to users home directory, subdirectories and files and then disable admin again - would that work? Are there any risks that I destroy something?

    QTS admin access rights

Thanks, but sorry, done that, doesn't work. I login as a user. Can access all my files under home. I login as the new admin. Cannot see the files and folders under the users home directory Is there anything I can do if I login as root remotely using a command prompt?

    QTS admin access rights

According to instructions from QNAP, I disabled the old admin user ID created a new one with a different name. However using this new admin, I can't access other user's files under their home directory. How do I get access to other users files in the correct way?

Best ASUS router for a large home

Thank you all for your comments. You are right, Tech9. My experience is with ASUS routers (mostly). Support for 802.11k and v has nothing to do with AC or AX. I have tried five different ASUS AC routers as APs. None of them supports 802.11k and v. My current AX ones does. The most important...

Best ASUS router for a large home

There are some other points as well: AC equipment isn't good enough for roaming. My own experience is that it doesn't work well. Once I replaced my 2 AC APs with AX, the roaming started to function as expected. The main test person, my wife, often roams through all parts of the house. Seems...

Best ASUS router for a large home

My thinking here is to build for the future. The XT12 has one WAN port 2.5 GB/sec and one LAN port 2.5 GB/sec. Since there will be a wired backhaul between the router and the AP, the wired backhaul will not be a bottleneck. I also want to use Merlin FW. However new routers are introduced quite...

Best ASUS router for a large home

You are right tgl and MarkLondon. I have told him to use Cat6A cables and associated wall sockets, patch panel and switches (if needed). Particularly important between the fiber modem, the router and the AP. Seems like I should tell him to use Cat8 stuff here instead. Thank you!! My guess for...

Best ASUS router for a large home

Hi! A friend of mine is building a new house. He has asked me for how to set up his wifi and for a good router. His new house is built by reinforced concrete, both inner and outer walls. It is very solid. It is in two floors, each about 14x14 meters (200 square meters - about 2000 square foot...

    Wifi Disconnection

Yes, you could be right, that's strange. However using only 160 MHz on our old routers may force them to try to find other channels which can take time and may be repeated continuously. So changing to 20/40/80 only may help. It should be very simple to test.

    Wifi Disconnection

Try this: On the 5 Ghz band, don't use 160 GHz. Only use 20/40/80. I believe your router discovers that there is some kind of interference and tries to use other channels

    Wifi Disconnection

You are running 1 router and 4 mesh nodes. This means all five devices will use the same channels. You will have a lot of interference. My recommendation is to skip the mesh - it doesn't let you fine tune your wifi setup I recommend the AX92U's are set up as AP's, not mesh nodes. Then you can...
