How about we create a basic intrusion script

I have seen a few posts lately that got me to thinking about getting an alert that are router are possibly compromised would be good.. What I am thinking is record the values of certain settings and if they change then maybe send an email alert. The questions is what should be consider...

Issues using filezilla (ftp client/server) in client mode

It is. It fails on the directory listing which I believe is the data connection. It says it connected fine.

Issues using filezilla (ftp client/server) in client mode

I'm not really sure where to start. Filezilla will not work on my windows pc as a client(not Server as I only need to push file out to an external ftp server). It used to work just fine. I think it started to fail in 384.5 but worked in previous versions. I have not used it in months, so I'm...

    Cryptsetup Kernel Modules

Can I ask why you would need an encrypted filesystem on a router? Just an educational exercise? Not that there is anything wrong with that, just curious.

[Beta 384/NG] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.5 Beta is now available

You are much braver than I am. My router is within 30 feet and I will not do it over WiFi.. but for me there is no reason to risk it. My house is wired with cat 5e.

[Beta 384/NG] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.5 Beta is now available

The 370 code is essentially end of life and will not be worked on. The 384.x is the new current line that will get security fixes, new features etc.

[Beta 384/NG] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.5 Beta is now available

Here is my method for the extra cautious and definitely for people with odd problems that others are not seeing.. 0) unplug any USB devices connected to your router 1) reset to defaults (yes using the old version of whatever you have on your router) 2) unplug for 10 seconds and power up (power...

    Noob afraid to upgrade Merlin

It's sad that John's util doesn't work because it was the "Bee's knees" ( https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Talk:bee's_knees ) of backup utils for Merlin.. https://x3mtek.com/asuswrt-merlin-firmware-upgrade/ is a good read on how to do a backup by hand today with the new 384 codebase.

    Anyone got a 68u and 86u setup?

I have my RT-AC86U as my main router and my RT-AC68U as an AP (connected via a cat-5e cable to port 1). You can see the versions in my sig. I have them set to different channels, but they have the same SSID(one for 2.4Ghz and one for 5Ghz). It works great. I am waiting on 384.5 Beta before I...

Skynet Skynet - Router Firewall & Security Enhancements

If I might suggest a future change.. making that error message mention that a ext* system is needed to install might help newbs to it like myself. My search on the error message was not returning anything helpful. Awesome tool.

Skynet Skynet - Router Firewall & Security Enhancements

I am a little worried about the new requirement of using a swap file as thumb drives do not use TRIM/wear leveling that I am aware of.

Skynet Skynet - Router Firewall & Security Enhancements

Reformatting it with mkfs.ext3 worked and it was automounted on reboot. The install worked perfectly. I actually used fdisk and made 10G for linux (ext3) and made the rest ntfs.. really not sure why.. probably because I could :)

Skynet Skynet - Router Firewall & Security Enhancements

I wondered about that but the GUI only allows you to format it NTFS, FAT or HFS. Sigh..

What type of thumb drive For jffs ?

FYI remember that Linux will use as much memory as possible for things like buffers, disk cache , etc.. So having 96% ram usage is not necessarily bad as it tries to use the extra memory.
