Change my ASUS mesh from RT-AC68U and Lyra Trio to XT9?

Hmm...because I'm a newb and I don't understand how to configure a series of PoE access points...let alone which ones would fit my circumstance and budget? ;)

Change my ASUS mesh from RT-AC68U and Lyra Trio to XT9?

Thanks. Not what I -wanted- to hear, but what I expected. Glad to confirm. Regards. Edited to add: I guess just manually copying all the settings from the old and then inputting them into the new (manually) would be the only way to keep all my wifi-linked devices from needing to be...

Change my ASUS mesh from RT-AC68U and Lyra Trio to XT9?

Folks, I'm currently running a mesh system with an RT-AC68U as the controller. All wifi devices have ethernet backhaul (except for one, which is using a wifi bridge...which is also an RT-AC68U). The RT-AC68U is configured and running just the way I'd like. The Lyra Trio are doing well, also...

    ASUS Lyra Trio Reviewed

An update... I reset all the Lyra Trios. (Unplug ethernet, hit and hold reset button, then go through the android app to find and configure them.) It took several iterations of this. Yeah, no, it shouldn't work like that...but it did. Asus chat support was...unsupportive. I was FINALLY able...

    ASUS Lyra Trio Reviewed

Well, not really. My house was running Wifi on an Asus RT-AC68U, being used only as an access point. (It had filled in as a router, as needed, while I was having issues with my main router.) The RT-AC68U is a very good unit. For someone like me, a bit of neophyte when it comes to all things ISP...

    ASUS Lyra Trio Reviewed

Necro thread... I am NOT conversant with most networking information. I'm a DIY'er who is just trying to get a seamless wifi in his three-story house. I was using an Asus RT-68U as a WAP. My network router is an Edgemax by Ubiquiti, attached to a 32 port switch with ethernet running...

Need help adding a WAP to my network. Shouldn't this be simple?

thiggins and asazel1024, Thanks for your explanations and assistance! I've got it all sorted now. Regards, Ken

Need help adding a WAP to my network. Shouldn't this be simple?

Ahh, now I understand what you meant. My Asus RT68 router will reserver manual IP addresses, even if they are inside the DHCP range, if the manual IP address is setup in the 68's menu. Now, for an oddity: I now have 3 wifi transmitters on my LAN. My 68 router also hass wifi; my 66 is working...

Need help adding a WAP to my network. Shouldn't this be simple?

Thanks! Your advice helped me get it sorted. Okay, "helped me" kind of exaggerates how much I did versus just following your instructions. ;) The 66 had reverted to router and, as you said, I had to connect it directly to a computer to get access to it and change it to AP mode. The WAP200 had...

Need help adding a WAP to my network. Shouldn't this be simple?

Should've been more clear. As soon as I plug the Linksys WAP200 into my LAN, my Asus 68's menu is inaccessible. The http 192.168.1.1 comes back with an error. When the WAP200 is unplugged, 192.168.1.1 access my Asus 68 normally. Plugging the Asus 66 into my LAN has a similar effect...

Need help adding a WAP to my network. Shouldn't this be simple?

Folks, I've got an Asus RT-AC68U working as my Router/Wifi access. I've got a hardwired LAN (through an unmanaged D-Link DSL-1024D) for the wired connections. I have two spare wifi routers: an Asus RT-AC6-6-U ("66" not "68"), and a Linksys WAP-200. Now, it USED to be simple, but it seems to...

    Need help: lightning damage?

Can't ping the printer. When hooked up via Ethernet (with a manual network setting and fixed IP address), the router doesn't see it. Router doesn't see it irregardless of how I configure it or how I list it in the router. Invisible to my router and anything on my LAN. The printer seems fully...

SEM; well, you'd be wrong. But thanks for the surge protector comment anyway.

    Need help: lightning damage?

The router MAC address is not visible to the router...even when directly plugged into it (and showing green and flashing yellow Ethernet lights and the Router showing flashing lights for the port to the printer). The router otherwise seems to work. I cannot ping the printer, since the router...

    Need help: lightning damage?

Folks, A few days ago, a massive storm came through. My neighbor had an electrical discharge shoot from an unused outlet. My house lost power and had some damage. More in a bit... My network runs as follows: FIOS BOX -> Ooma Internet Phone -> Router (Asus RT-AC66U) -> Switch (D-link...

Asus RT-AC66U NTP failure; wrong time

RMerlin, Thanks for posting the IP address. I inserted that into the Administration/System/NTP Server window, Applied the change...and there was no difference to the behavior. Still showing the wrong date/time, and still "start NTP update" every 27 seconds. Off to start sending ASUS a...

Asus RT-AC66U NTP failure; wrong time

    1. Using pool.ntp.org does not change the 27 second cycle of hunting for an NTP server. (In fact, you'll see that's what is in the url window in the image I posted upstream. I've also tried "time.nist.gov".) 2. DNS configuration. My AC66 is being used as an Access Point, not a Router, so...

Asus RT-AC66U NTP failure; wrong time

RMerlin, Thank you. However, I really don't know what the firmware uses. Since the url in the NTP window is, apparently, wrong (and, yes, I've tried to enter several in a vain attempt to get the time updated), what value should be entered in that window? If I leave it blank, the System Log...

Asus RT-AC66U NTP failure; wrong time

You are, of course, correct. I typed it into my AC66's server address correctly, I mistyped when I was responding here. Thanks. I don't use a password manager. The dlink thing: This is INTERNAL to the AC66 settings, before it gets to a browser. (Edited: I just figure that out. I had not...
