Fixed: Reminder: The system time has not been synchronized with an NTP server.

Sharing a fix: router time was May 2018 (not expected Sept 2024). After trying different ntp servers and command line checks, I saw pings to url weren’t working as expected with Comcast DNS (though okay with Cloudflare DNS) I contacted my ISP (Comcast) who diagnosed my modem needed...

    What became of your TM-AC1900?

I got mine soon after it launched and I thought it was "free" with my T-Mobile cellphone plan. I put Merlin on it. After a few years I got an invoice from T-Mobile for 99USD if I didn't return the unit - so sent it back to them with an Asus firmware on it.

vnStat our Comcast billed data usage versus vnstat: 1H 2023

Forgot to mention: I'm on a promo package with unlimited data (providing I keep using their modem/router - which will become 25USD/month. It runs very hot). Maybe that affects their numbers. I just bought a Motorola MB8611 modem to ditch the Comcast modem/router so paying attention to data...

vnStat our Comcast billed data usage versus vnstat: 1H 2023

For data nerds (like me!): I'm sharing 1H 2023 monthly totals for our home usage (two people, home working 60% of the week + casual use) I can't see how the numbers correlate - our usage has quite some variation especially TX data. Roughly the Comcast billed data usage number is ~10% less...

OpenVPN Site to site on 2xASUS RT-AC86U Routers. Slow speed down, fast up.

FWIW but don't want to hijack your thread: I too just observed unexpected assymetrical download speeds with two Asus routers using VPN Server and VPN Client. Both ends had internet upload speeds of 35-40Mbps and >10x download speeds (speedtest.net without VPN). One direction got...

Struggling with OVPN Server can someone advise me please?

Are you running OVPN Clients at the same time as OVPN Servers ? If not then ignore the rest of this reply. I am on 386.7_2 installed on RT-AX86U with hard reset and USB drive reformat without settings restore - during last weekend I could connect remotely to the OVPN Server (LAN only...

vpnmgr vpnmgr - Manage and update VPN Client configurations for NordVPN and PIA

Ran a new install of vpnmgr on 386.7_2 (problem with vpnmgr web GUI), then ran this command and option r and now I see the full vpnmgr web GUI. Thanks for this.

vpnmgr vpnmgr - Manage and update VPN Client configurations for NordVPN and PIA

After Hard Reset and USB disk reformat on Merlin build 386.7_2 on AX86U, followed with clean install of vpnmgr 2.3.1 isn't loading correctly in the web GUI, I am only seeing the top of page (same as earlier on this thread @Galaxysurfer).

    is asuscomm ddns down?

Same for me: DDNS Status is inactive with unauthorized registration request. Aug 9 18:55:00 Let's_Encrypt: Err, DDNS update failed. I saw the same problem yesterday (did a power-off reboot and then DDNS worked).

Which OpenVPN client use for macOS?

TunnelBlick on MacOS (10, 11, 12) has been reliable for several years - no known router crashes connected to OVPN server on AX86U and AC66U_B1. Routers running Merlin firmware. OVPN Server Advanced settings include TLS Control channel security > Encrypt channel Compression: Disable TunnelBlick...

Thank you for the reply and link.

YazFi default Guest Network tab > Access Intranet > Enable

After installing YazFi the Guest Network has two tabs: Guest Network and YazFi. Before installing YazFi the Guest Network tab showed Access Intranet as Disable. After installing YazFi the same Guest Network tab shows Access Intranet as Enable - though I did not change this setting in this tab...

OVPN Server and no remote access to local network (except to router GUI)

Update: the switch had no power - hence the devices I was trying to access remotely were disconnected from the network. Apologies for the time waste. If I had checked the network connections earlier I would not have posted this.

OVPN Server and no remote access to local network (except to router GUI)

I've just realized all the devices that I've been had trouble connecting are behind a LAN switch - and I think something is wrong due to that switch or cabling. Unfortunately no-one is home to help diagnose. There are some other devices connected to the router that are pingable - I had failed...

OVPN Server and no remote access to local network (except to router GUI)

Agreed - unfortunately I am remote, so will have to do a clean reset and manual reinstall of everything router-wise when I return next week. Thanks for the suggestions and ideas.
