Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

Ah - thanks. Currently I've got DNS Filter set On, with Router as default. So if I add a DNSFilter custom rule for a work laptop to, say, 8.8.8.8 for Google DNS, then that work laptop will not get ad-blocking... intriguing! Also I just found this, which kind of implies my DNSFilter default...

Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

Any suggestion for how to time schedule Diversion to enable and disable? During working day, both of us find some work-related websites are loading slow with Diversion enabled: sometimes login prompts do not execute. I could work around this - figuring out IP addresses, and whitelisting. The...

    Asus AC68U IPhone Tether

Did you manage to get iPhone working as USB connection on Dual WAN? I've spent a bit of time trying to do this, without success. Seems to me the router is not able to initiate the connection with the iPhone, despite iPhone Personal Hotspot being set on and AT&T plan with data tethering for the...

DSL-AC68U - Wifi 2.4GHz band interference issues with USB 3.0 drive

I've just experienced the same with Asus RT-AC66U-B1 using a USB connected SSD drive. On 2.4GHz WiFi: - with USB3.0 internet speedtest download is <2Mbps - changing from USB3.0 to USB2.0 restores internet speed to expected 18Mbps On 5G WiFi: no difference. Using USB3.0 can affect WiFi 2.4GHz...

Need help choosing next ASUS-Merlin router.

Consider if you want your next router to support WiFi6 802.11ax (hence "AX" models) or not ("AC").

Disk check (dcl) reports Volume not dirty (?)

Thanks for looking at this Colin. Because amtm fd would not format the 2TB drive, I used this extfs utility to format the 2TB: https://www.paragon-software.com/us/home/extfs-mac/ Even though the amtm generated swap drive worked (according to Tools) I was suspicious not being able to format...

Disk check (dcl) reports Volume not dirty (?)

I changed from the 2TB USB hard drive to a 1TB drive formatted with amtm fd. Both disks are Western Digital USB3.0 units. The disk check for the 1TB drive reports: Mon Jun 15 08:05:52 DST 2020 Probing 'ext4' on device /dev/sda1 Running disk check v2.9, with command 'e2fsck -p' on /dev/sda1...

Skynet Skynet - Router Firewall & Security Enhancements

Thanks - that's really helpful. Not so relevant to my question - but looks like the command to list unblocked/blocked devices may have changed from the guidance on the intro web page: from this /jffs/scripts/firewall settings iot list to /jffs/scripts/firewall settings iot view

Skynet Skynet - Router Firewall & Security Enhancements

I have a question about Skynet IOT blocking versus [AiProtection > Parental Control > Time Scheduling > deny internet access] for specific devices. Is Skynet's IOT blocking somehow different from using AiProtection to deny internet access? Perhaps Skynet enables logging so you can investigate...

384.17: DNSSEC issue on guest network

Using your example I can't duplicate what you see. Using 384.17 on an RT-AC66U-B1: I get the same response whether on guest wifi or main wifi.

384.17: DNSSEC issue on guest network

With router on 384.17, and DNSSEC enabled to Cloudflare with DOT, DNSFilter is set to Router, I think DNSSEC is working okay on the guest wifi. I tested this using command line on a MacBook connected to guest wifi: dig +dnssec 1.1.1.1 and see flags: ad EDNS flags: do and in the authority...

    RT-AC68U Wireless ping spikes

If your router supports Merlin firmware (link), and you are comfortable with "command line" tools, you could flash your router with Merlin FW then install "connmon" application (link) onto the router. This application will log the ping delay/latency/quality every five minutes - see attached...

Customize Request: QoS - WAN/LAN Bandwidth Monitor

Yes - exactly! But in my AC-66U-B1 with Merlin 384.17 there is no pull down menu. Looking at your picture that looks like Asus stock firmware for RT-AX92U has that pulldown - I guess Asus has not put that into firmware for other router models like AC-66U-B1.

Customize Request: QoS - WAN/LAN Bandwidth Monitor

+1 for this, if anyone has found work-around? With my ISP service, router download bandwidth is set as 19Mbps on the QoS tab (and we get a great internet experience for our needs with adaptive QoS :)). A scale to 1000Mbps is way too much.

Disk check (dcl) reports Volume not dirty (?)

Oh good - thanks for the replies. (I was thinking to find a smaller <2TB hard drive and follow the instructions to Prepare the USB Drive for the swap file, Entware, and scripts here https://www.snbforums.com/threads/amtm-step-by-step-install-guide-l-ld.56237/ but seems I don't need to bother :))

Disk check (dcl) reports Volume not dirty (?)

I have a USB 2TB hard drive formatted with EXT4 connected to Asus AC66U-B1 with Merlin 384.17. I formatted the 2TB hard drive as EXT4 on a Mac - the router amtm command fd would not format this drive due to 2TB size. I used amtm (sw) to install a swap drive of 2GB - the swap memory is seen in...

DoT setup: some traffic over port 53 (trend micro.com)

Using Asus AC66U-B1 with Merlin 384.17. WAN > DoT setup using the DNS Privacy wiki to Cloudflare DNS servers; LAN > DNSFilter set to "Router" with no Client List entries. I'm using AiProtection/Trend Micro to enable Adaptive QoS with FreshJR script installed. Using tcpdump to inspect traffic...

YazFi YazFi - enhanced AsusWRT-Merlin Guest WiFi inc. SSID <-> VPN Client

Thanks Jack. I'm not using AiMesh and haven't used AiMesh before on this router (and it was reflashed with Merlin 384.16 using a factory reset around six weeks ago). I did install YazFi a week ago and uninstalled YazFi, then reinstalled YazFi again later.
