    Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.25SF & v. 1.0.2.29SF

Hopefully @NETGEAR Guy can get some updates for us on why this version is so old.... So far he has been silent on the issue.

    Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.25SF & v. 1.0.2.29SF

Maybe more people need to email their support department and make them aware of this so it gets updated...

Arris Releases First DOCSIS 3.1 Modem In Surfboard Lineup

Out of stock =( Wonder if this is better than the Netgear CM1000 that is out, and about $30 cheaper.

    Nighthawk / ASUS??

Isn't allowing up to 800 Mbps, and enabling 20/40 coexistence, enough for a populated area, opposed to just running it at 347Mbps?

    Nighthawk / ASUS??

Is it recommended to run the 2.4Ghz in 20Mhz only? I currently have it set to "up to 800mpbs" with 20/40 coexistence enabled.

    Custom firmware build for R7800

The FW is an .img file on my mac. Just flash that file to the router and be done?

    R7800 SmallNetBuilder Review

So, if I am reading this correct, if you run channel 149 for 5Ghz, you will not achieve 160MHZ? So you have to either run a channel in the 30's or 40's, or a DFS channel?

    Custom firmware build for R7800

Thanks, the key benefit i see is using the processor to its fullest (as I do not run separate apps on my router, or use the USB functions. My NAS is connected via ethernet and uses SMB protocol)

    Custom firmware build for R7800

May have to check this out. Running stock .20 on my R7800 now. Ill have to see how difficult the install is over stock firmware. I assume Hardware Acceleration works fine with your builds, and no issues with 2.4/5.0Ghz wifi?

    Black Friday Upgrade

Read their forums... From someone who had the R8000 for 2 months, I'm speaking from experience of using it. I bet the majority of amazon reviewers have never been on this site, nor tested other routers in the past.

NETGEAR Routers Vulnerable To Weblink-based Exploit

Hope they issue a beta FW for R7800 sooner rather than later

    Foscam / Port Triggering

So your saying don't mess with port triggering, and just use the port forward option? Heard that is less secure, especially for web cams
  14. B

    Foscam / Port Triggering

Ok, so I just make a range for the external ports under port triggering?

    Foscam / Port Triggering

Was told that I should first, disable UPnP option on my foscam, and secondly, have a random port for the camera, but have that as an internal port. Then have a range of ports that go out to the internet (for security reasons). Is this an instance where I would use port triggering? In the past...

    Testing Wifi Signal/Channel

Thanks. What I notice is yesterday channel 11 is recommended from 2.4ghz, today its channel 1. So it seems to be constantly changing. Is it better to just pick one and forget it? I sure am not going to be checking daily. Isn't this a case where AUTO channel selection would be ideal?

    R7800 SmallNetBuilder Review

As far as I know, nothing out there uses HT160 yet, especially none of the devices you've listed. so is there a reason you want it enabled?

    R7800 SmallNetBuilder Review

Ive always read its not recommended to use DFS channels for 5ghz in the US. Am I missing something ?

    2.4GHz, mode question (54,347,800Mbps)

Is there any reason NOT to use 800 Mbps mode on a netgear R7800 router? The options are 54, 347, or 800 Mbps.

    R7800 New Firmware 1.0.2.12

Is streamboost automatic or do you need to opt in on it with this router ?
