Need help deciding between rt-ac1900p v3 or the rt-ac68u c1

My internet has gigabit connection (comcast). Are you saying these routers will perform differently? Given the specs, I would assume both would be able to get close to advertised gigabyte speeds.

    RT-68U Nightmares!

That links says to IPv6: Disabled. My question is why, since IPv6 is the direction things are going. I thought users are encouraged to use this protocol.

Need help deciding between rt-ac1900p v3 or the rt-ac68u c1

What is one missing then performance wise with using an AC1900 vs the 3100? If none of my products support MU-MIMO (apple products) and 1 laptop, and my living space is 1200 Sq Ft (many walls, and outer walls are brick), running comcast gigabit service, is the 3100 overkill, and performance...

    Apple Exiting Wi-Fi Router Biz

Apple is seemingly getting out of the router accessory business, ‘disbanding’ the division inside the company https://9to5mac.com/2016/11/21/apple-reportedly-stops-developing-airport-wifi-router-products-moving-employees-to-other-projects/ Maybe I shouldn't have sold my ASUS 3100 last year as...

    eero Tweaks Its Wi-Fi Mesh

Problems with these Mesh system, there are no ethernet ports to use (some of us would like to run ethernet to devices). I have a Synology NAS plugged into a router. These mesh systems, I would be forced to by a wifi doogle.

    5Ghz -- Channels 36, 40, 44, 48

Did not know that. Is there a way around that, so I can use the DFS channel and have my iMac connect to it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    5Ghz -- Channels 36, 40, 44, 48

Old topic but just want to input my stuff. If I set my Airport Extreme to Auto for 2.4/5.0, and use 1 SSID, then my 5.0 goes to 136 channel (DFS). My iMac connects to the 2.4GHZ band, not the 5.0 band. However if I change to channel 48, or 149, or any other NON DFS channel, the mac will connect...

Why do Asus routers have issues with Apple

So it's not something a FW would fix on asus router ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Mesh Mashup Redux - NETGEAR's Orbi Checks In

It's netgear, notorious for poor product support / FW updates. Be weary spending money on this companies products. That's all I meant Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Mesh Mashup Redux - NETGEAR's Orbi Checks In

Very true. $399 for a product from Netgear, no thanks

    Advice for Mostly Apple Devices

Having never tried the R7000, but owning a generation 6 Airport Extreme, and a Netgear R8000, I find them to be pretty on par with each other. The lack of firmware/software updates to the R8000 is horrible IMO. I go back and forth between both routers (will end up selling one eventually). The...

    Moving- To Upgrade or Not

I think the netgear R7000 and/orR7500 is now EOL (End of Life).

    R8000 / hardware acceleration

Is there any truth to Tomato FW having a weaker 5GHz signal than stock firmware? Out of your list, CTF would be the thing that I would benefit from.

    R8000 / hardware acceleration

Thanks for your help. If I may ask, what makes you prefer tomato over stock FW? Just curious

    R8000 / hardware acceleration

Any idea what features these would be?

    R8000 / hardware acceleration

So the stock FW, and Tomato both have HW acceleration, DD-WRT does not?
  18. B

    R8000 / hardware acceleration

Im pretty much using the default settings in the latest netgear fw. So not sure if things disable it or not. As for Tomato, is that a selling point to using it, that it supports HW accel (CTF) where other open source do not?
  19. B

    R8000 / hardware acceleration

Ive read that stock fw does not support hardware acceleration. However, if I were to put Kong or Tomato Tomato Shibby on, it supports hardware acceleration and simple bandwidth limiting. Ive also read that one will never reach Gbps speeds with DD-WRT as it doesn't have HW accel. Tomato offers...

Nighthawk X6 vs Apple AirPort Extreme

Doing some playing around here. Nighthawk R8000 today gives me 404 Mbps, with a peak of 423.31 Mbps I unplugged that, and threw in the Airport Extreme Gen6, using same 5ghz wifi channel as the Nighthawk (149) and I get 356 Mbps, with a peak of 389 Mbps. Strange. So looks like if I keep the...
