Asus 5GHz channels in the UK?

Thanks. I guess what worries me is that perhaps my next router (RT-AC68U perhaps) might be more crippled. It's not just the channels, it's also the TX power. If I have a router which at the moment outputs much more power than the new ones, then perhaps a new router won't deliver the speed and...

Asus 5GHz channels in the UK?

    Just a quick question: I have an old RT-N66U which has served me well for years, but it's time for an upgrade. I notice my 66U offers me the following 5 GHz channels: 36 40 44 48 52 56 60 64 100 104 108 112 116 132 136 140 This is running Merlin 380.67 (latest version). Is this normal? I...

    RT-N66U 2.4 GHz problem

Sorry for the late reply folks. After a number of reboots, it's miraculously decided to work fine now. I've no idea what the problem was. (5 GHz was always OK, btw.) Thanks for your help.

    RT-N66U 2.4 GHz problem

I wonder if anyone can shed any light on this please? I've been using an RT-N66U for years since it's rock solid stable and has great wifi coverage in my house. However, I was messing about with IPv6 settings earlier today (to fix an unrelated issue) and something has happened to my 2.4 GHz...

    Asus RT-N66U replacement?

I wonder if anyone could please help me choose my next router? Currently I have an old Asus RT-N66U which I have to say has been absolutely brilliant. It's totally bomb-proof and stays up for month upon month upon month without any issues at all. It get rebooted only when we have a power cut...

Strange routing table entries - cause for concern???

Thanks. This helps me understand a lot. The thing that now puzzles me is that the routing table above is from an ASUS router, and indeed all of the example routing tables from ASUS routers you find when googling, look like the one above. Given what you say, I can't imagine they are all...

Strange routing table entries - cause for concern???

Thanks! So I can relax then? Funny how I don't see any such entries in other peoples' routing tables. (Of course I understand every ISP will have a different gateway, but still most tables I have seen look like this: Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref...

Strange routing table entry: I am worried!

Sorry for the cross-post, but I posted the info below in the wrong place originally: I am quite worried about this. Should I be? What does this mean??? Any advice gratefully received!

Strange routing table entries - cause for concern???

Fiddling about trying to fix something else, I just happened to notice the following in my RT-N66U routing table: Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface 172.16.16.13 * 255.255.255.255 UH 0 0 0 WAN 192.168.1.0 *...

    Still running 3.0.0.3.108

I haven't messed with my router for ages, having been working on other stuff. I note I am still on 3.0.0.3.108 - which I guess is like ancient these days. That said, looking at the stats, it's been up for 173 days and counting, so it's EXTREMELY stable. (The last downtime was probably a power...

    Heat issues with the 66U

54C pretty constant. Of course the delta between your room temp and the device temp is what dissipates the heat. i.e. if my room was 6C higher, it would be 60C.

    80mW vs 40mW

Dunno - never tried it (or heard of it!) I will give it a go. @TonyH - thanks for the advice. The thing is, the router doesn't seem remotely warmer than before, I am wondering if this default 80mW vs the previous 40mW is not in fact an increase in output at all. Maybe it's a bug-fix and the...

    80mW vs 40mW

Just updated my RT-N66U firmware from x.x.x.90 to x.x.x.108. I note the wireless output power now defaults to 80mW instead of 40mW previously. However, I can detect no discernible improvement to the wifi signal (which was superb before, anyway). Is there any reason why I should / should...

    RT-N66U vs EA4500

I am no expert on these matters, so please take my comments on face value. However... I have tried both and I have found the wireless signal strength and coverage to be MILES better on the RT-N66U. I mean like no comparison. I had an old Netgear DGND3300 originally and struggled to get...
