Feature Request - Display the LOGS and UPTIME of AiMesh nodes

Awesome, thank you Eric! I just did that. I completely forgot about that FEEDBACK tab on the Administration Web UI page. Having the ability to not only send logs, settings, etc. along with your issue submission is an awesome product feature. And so is the feature request selection. With any...

Feature Request - Display the LOGS and UPTIME of AiMesh nodes

Oh crap, I knew that. Sorry. I suppose there is no forum where Asus actually listens to feature requests...

Feature Request - Display the LOGS and UPTIME of AiMesh nodes

I'll admit that I'm not on Merlin FW yet, but will be eventually. I just bought my pair of AX86 and still on factory releases. I haven't seen or heard about this feature anywhere online, so I'm requesting that Merlin add this to a future update. Feature request: Add the ability to display the...

RT-AX86U - Internet crapping out after using Homepod Mini's

Sorry but I don't have the necessary Wi-Fi expertise to know what this means. But it doesn't look good. I wonder if it's an incompatibility with randomized MAC addressing... Wi-Fi privacy - Apple Support Found this too: [Wireless] Why do I see my device multiple times on the device list of the...

    AX86U or XT8 (2 pack)?

I don't really know about this, but just spit-balling a little bit... I suppose that is theoretically possible because a packet may have to wait in order to be transmitted on a shared band. But I would expect that MU-MIMO technology would largely overcome that limitation; it enables multiple...

    AX86U or XT8 (2 pack)?

No disagreement in principle. However.... The XT8 fronthaul radio is 2x2 which means it tops out at 866Mbps using 80mhz channel width. The AX86u has a 4x4 radio which means it can top out at 1.73Gbps using 80mhz channel width. So given the same 80Mhz channel width, the 4x4 radio on the AX86u...

    Wifi dropping.

Temperature changes cause expansion & contraction, things loosen up. Weather affects outdoor items. Changes on your street could have an impact on your cable connection. Crimped connections loosen up on their own over time - ask any cable TV tech, happens to RG6 coax crimps all the time. Any...

    AX86U or XT8 (2 pack)?

I think it's a toss up spec-wise. Personally I would do the AX86u, just because it has a large following, mature software & HW design, and the Merlin FW option. It might be hard to find in stock though. Since it has 4x4 on the 5Ghz band, it has very high bandwidth and in practice, even though...

AX86u additional AiMesh node - what to buy?

Is there any opportunity to put your single AX86u on the 2nd floor? If the limiting factor is where your cable modem is at, maybe it can be placed on the 2nd floor so it's close to your router, assuming RG6 coax is present upstairs. I would think that a 2nd floor Wi-Fi access point placement...

    Seriously Asus? ANOTHER "gaming" router?

Asus does seem to have a somewhat dizzying and bewildering product offering of Wi-Fi routers. American marketing would call it the "throw it up on the wall and see what sticks" strategy.

    AX86U or XT8 (2 pack)?

I assume you're not going to run CAT6 to the other location and will rely on Wi-Fi for the mesh backhaul. Placement of the 2nd node will be critical to get a good Wi-Fi link on the backhaul back to the main router. The Wi-Fi is a bit of a mixed bag in terms of performance: 2.4Ghz 5Ghz-1...

RT-AX86U - Internet crapping out after using Homepod Mini's

The MAC filter is under Advanced Settings, Wireless, on the Wireless MAC Filter tab. Edit: Forgot to mention... please keep the forum updated on what you discover. It helps others who are in a similar situation.

    Wifi dropping.

Since you're losing your internet connections on both Wi-Fi and ethernet LAN devices, the issue seems more likely to be either your router's WAN interface to the modem, the modem itself, or the coax side of your modem. It is quite common for marginal crimped coax connectors, splitters...

RT-AX86U - Internet crapping out after using Homepod Mini's

Potential workaround (not a real fix)... Avoid the 5Ghz band for Homepods. If you have separate SSIDs for 2.4Ghz vs. 5Ghz bands, then just connect your Homepods to the 2.4 band SSID. If you have the same SSID for both 2.4 and 5, then try putting a MAC Filter on your 5GHZ band to reject the MAC...

    2x RT-AX86u replaces Orbi RBK53 (3 pack)

I'm glad you were able to buy one - some items like that are hard to find in stock nowadays due to the chip shortages.

    AX86U losing Wan connection

I believe that log message refers to an issue on the other side of your cable modem - i.e. something is becoming marginal upstream from your modem. I would call your ISP and have them run some remote diagnostics, they should be able to determine the quality of your signal. It could be anywhere...

    Voxel Custom firmware build for Orbi RBK50/RBK53 (RBR50, RBS50) v. 9.2.5.2.12SF-HW

Orbi does not support VLANs. The closest it comes is the GUEST WiFi setup that is typical of most consumer routers.

    2x RT-AX86u replaces Orbi RBK53 (3 pack)

Well from my experience on the Orbi, roaming between units was VERY client dependent (and use case dependent). Video chatting seems to the be worst case scenario, no matter what app/platform you use. It sure seemed like my wife's iPhone had a harder time roaming between nodes than my Android...

    2x RT-AX86u replaces Orbi RBK53 (3 pack)

I was really thinking about going the Ubiquiti route (some APs, a Dream Machine Pro, and a managed POE switch). It would have been about $700, and I would have to go pull some new cables to mount the APs. But I'm getting too old to be crawling around the attic (I have developed some lower back...
