    Overclocking on Asuswrt-Merlin 378.56_2 (RT-AC68U and RT-N66U)

    1. Enable scripts on your router. Make sure it's enabled. Very important. 2. Enable SSH in your router. 3. Log onto router using putty or other ssh client. 4. Copy and past each line and click enter after each line. This will put script in the directory. 5. Type reboot and click enter. 6. Check...

    ExpressVPN and Stock Asus OpenVPN

SRP you're limited by your router Mhz encryption/decryption processing speed, not vpn but good to know ExpressVPN speeds. Seems same as PIA, not worth the price then IMO. ARM routers won't reach latest comcast ISP speeds of 90/12 so just FYI but you can get up to 60Mbps with all the remedies i...

Tutorial How to Setup a VPN client including Policy Rules for PIA and other VPN providers 384.5 07.10.18

I have confidence it will work out with the NUC. At worst case i'll sell it on ebay or use it for something else. It's cheap enough and quad core. Has HDMI, can be used for multimedia or whatever, practice pc for ESX but like i 'm saying, worst case i'll sell it on ebay but i dont anticipate...

Tutorial How to Setup a VPN client including Policy Rules for PIA and other VPN providers 384.5 07.10.18

So the way you have it all traffic goes to the VPN and you don't care about local ISP? Yes indeed. When you go back to ISP traffic you're defeating the purpose of vpn use in first place so yes I'm gone with the wind essentially lol what happens if the tunnel drops does it kill connections so...

Tutorial How to Setup a VPN client including Policy Rules for PIA and other VPN providers 384.5 07.10.18

lol....that's odd cause mine without any dns filtering shows as it should with both dns showing same pia dns server. I've visited this website before and it always showed like that. And with dns filtering you i got opendns leak ....lol One thing that should also not leak is my private ip but i...

Tutorial How to Setup a VPN client including Policy Rules for PIA and other VPN providers 384.5 07.10.18

Hmmm...yeah i'm not sure what' you're saying. If you set dns filtering on and set for opendns you will leak out of PIA to open dns and you don't wanna do that unless i'm not understanding what you're doing. I get PIA dns if dns filtering is off.

Tutorial How to Setup a VPN client including Policy Rules for PIA and other VPN providers 384.5 07.10.18

Even in oldest firmware you will ALWAYS get dns from PIA if you set for exclusive or strict and that's available in oldest firmware. Actually that's how it should be setup anyway. You never wanna browse threw ANY other dns but vpn provider one and they are always injected once you connect...

Tutorial How to Setup a VPN client including Policy Rules for PIA and other VPN providers 384.5 07.10.18

Cool bro. But one will get vpn dns threw PIA once set to exclusive so just curious why would you use that? You don't want to point to google dns or opendns as then your're leaking out out of your vpn protecting and essentially advertising your internet activities. Unless this could be used as...

Tutorial How to Setup a VPN client including Policy Rules for PIA and other VPN providers 384.5 07.10.18

Yorgi just as info the only following are needed based on my testing. I think rest of those u listed are already build in when router is negotiating so you're jut repeating that again in custom settings. I'm not sure if that will interfere or not but it's redundant. Merlin or John would know...

    ExpressVPN and Stock Asus OpenVPN

Thanks Merlin but 2.4Ghz single core should be able to pull 100mbps on openvpn. I read atom has 20,000mips while our 87u is 2380mips, 10x over so should easyily without a sweat pull 100mpbs as it's 10x mips faster even on one core correct? Also that atom has AES-NI instructions in the cpu...

    ExpressVPN and Stock Asus OpenVPN

That's interesting. 87u can do up to 60Mbps with average 50-54Mbps on optimized channels if overclocked. You were running your vpn on non optimized channel but 70mbps is impressive. That linksys has 1400Mhz so it's higher then 87u stock 1000mhz. CPU is what does vpn so the better the cpu the...

firewall: Drop IPv6 neighbour solicitation broadcasts (Comcast fix) (default: No) Should this be enabled if one has comcast. I have ipv6 disabled. How would one benefit from having this enabled. Just curious? cf77301 openvpn: Mark OpenVPN traffic for CTF bypass How does this work and any...

Speed Tests with VPN and Encryptions. Help by Sharing your results :)

50-60w would be ok with me but i suspect we're talking about best case scenario which won't happen and most likely will be that 100w but i hope you're right. That pc has 240W PSU. Swapping PSU and SSD will add cost and might as well build atom one. I mean openvpn, snort etc all this will add...

Speed Tests with VPN and Encryptions. Help by Sharing your results :)

All i need for now is 100Mbps with AES-256. My point is regular pc with openvpn runing and encryption will probably yield $100/year electric bill on top of your other pc. Pfsense can't sleep. pc can. So maybe best solution is to go with one of those atoms which uses like 15w peak form what i'm...

LLD you're not adding dual nic card for this which bumps to 53W at idle but if you disable gpu wouldn't pfsense not boot up at all. It needs some gpu right. Problem is this pc had desecnt gpu card probably in mobo. 53w idle means pc is doing nothing. I subracted hd and add ssd and subtracted gpu...

Yeah it uses then what specs show. Idle 68W and @load 151W/h = $100/year at avr load of 100W http://powersupplycalculator.net/

And there is that 200w/idle ..... lol @150w/idle his bill at idle is $99.81/year. Granted this is 4Ghz pc. I don't know about my pc specs. It seem severely understated for Power Star ratings.

    Ok i think you're right. I just looked up the pdf spec for that 8100 pc and it uses 40W, i'm assuming /hr so it actually seems very low....weird. 40wx 24hr (day) x 365x (full year) = 350,400 watts :1000(kw) = 350.40 kw x 0.07596 cost/u =$26.61/ year Hmm....that's really low....40w seems low...
