General consensus is linux is way faster on older pcs. My xp was running great on it and my win 7 is sluggish (with basic theme) even when i do chrome browsing. All drivers installed at OS and OS install was blazing fast. Boot is fast too. Wifi as you see hit 72Mbps which is still odd to me... -

Hey guys just fyi. I installed ubuntu mate 15 on my D620 laptop and i got 72Mbps on vpn threw my 87u router. Weird as this doesn't make any sense. Thanks it's already on it's way Intel PRO/1000 MT Dual server nic. I even checked if controller chip number is on FreeBSD approved hardware and it is so I hope it's nic not comcast. I was looking at quad nic but i probably won't need it and quad had 2 controllers in it and i don't know how... -

Thanks blade but i injected net 5.1 into esxi already. I actually tried all drivers. I think it's supporting one nic but other realtek nic is older 100. I think i'll wait for the intel server nics to come and try then. It seems no platform likes realtek chip. I shoudl have done that from get go... -

So much for setting up ESXi with pfsense. No secondary nic detected or available. Still me thinks fen realtek is garbage junk sh1t ESXi don't see it and pfsense probably doesn't either and neither is vm workstation either. I can setup till i'm blue in the face! -

Here is my setup. Maybe i need to sperate my win7 desktop from pfsense vm somehow. Is that why wan is dropping cause desktop is trying to access internet and so is pfsense which is trying to get wan ip address? Vlan , virtual switch. I don't know what's wrong with setup. There are also two... -

Blade any thought on this article point desktop nics especially realtek and marvel are useless. It's possible they are dropping packets in unix enviroment but are ok in windows. I don't know until i can test new nic card... -

The symptom is always the same no matter how i try to configure the vmware with pfsense which is comcast wan ip is either blank or appears for second until i log into... -

Here is what makes me think it's nic but that's in case of vmware esxi. I suspect vmware workstation is not much different in handling nic driver since it's same company and since pfsense is on vmware and it's freebsd unix based code i suspect it may be same issue as esx... -

System i just tried this. I disabled ipv4, v6 on physical nic on desktop on wan and lan port. Restarted pfsense and reset cable modem. I got comast ip on pfsense wan interaface and 192.168.1.1 on lan interaface. No internet connection on both desktop and my laptop from which i logged into... -
