Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

I'd tend to agree with you but, again this morning all I had to do was reboot the router and the login/splash page appeared... Doesn't work that way on 384.19... But, I'm still looking/troubleshooting... :^) Also, the link I see for the login page is about six miles long and captures MAC...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

Have a problem with 384.19 on a RT-AC3100 when using hotel internet... Being in a hotel I run everything through a VPN (Mullvad) except for the router. The router (WAN) is connected via ethernet to the hotel internet service. It has a login page once you plug in and every 24 hours I get dropped...

Disabling Firefox's automatic switch to DoH

Hey, It's not just the browsers... Mozilla's Thunderbird has the same setting/option... Tools... Options... Advanced... Network & Disk Space tab... Settings button for Connection. Fun video to watch: Best.

    VPN / DNS oddity.

Hey, FWIW, this is how I solved my issue... I enabled the JFFS partition and formatted it on the follow up boot. Then I created a dnsmasq.conf.add file (in /jffs/configs/) and entered the following in it: dhcp-option=tag:vpndns,option:dns-server,10.10.10.1,10.10.10.2...

    VPN / DNS oddity.

Hey, Yes, and no... The DNS servers are no longer going through a VPN. After putting them through the WAN is where I noticed the difference.

    VPN / DNS oddity.

Hey, I've stumbled on something I do not understand and thought I'd post it so someone could let me know what I'm missing... I run a VM that has Pi-hole/Unbound and NSD running for DNS service... Running on the local network. On the router both WAN and LAN (DHCP) DNS servers are set to the...

"The network cable is unplugged" on RT-AX88U@ .11

Yes, it is well documented that speed kills... Sorry, couldn't resist!

    [Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.11 is available

I didn't see this in 384.10_2 on a RT-AC3100... and it's not an issue for me, but I thought it was worth mentioning... On Network Map page Internet status is showing Disconnected... Nothing is checked on Network Monitoring... (Administration -> System tab) So, if I change Tools -> Other...

Can't get DNSFilter to work... RT-AC3100

I'm running pi-hole on a VM with VirtualBox... Started out on a Raspberry Pi 3... Makes sense how you did it especially after @dave14305 enlightened me. I'll give it a try to see how it works. Thanks for help.

Can't get DNSFilter to work... RT-AC3100

Yeah, actually I have and will probably give it a go in the near future... Especially considering the DNS changes and such I'm seeing in .11 Merlin alpha release... Pi-hole/Unbound/NSD is running on a VM on VirtualBox on a OMV server... I like a good challenge... And of course it keeps the...

Can't get DNSFilter to work... RT-AC3100

LOL... Yeah, I'll give that a try... I've already killed internet access in playing with the DNSFilter so I know what that's like! I really don't have any purpose in mind for DNSFilter other than wanting to know what possibilities it provides... Then I can really break things! Thanks for...

Can't get DNSFilter to work... RT-AC3100

Well, tried it like you described and got better results. I mistakenly thought that the way I had it set up the router would grab any DNS traffic but like you mention it wasn't pointed that way and since it was local traffic it didn't need the router anyway. Thanks for the clarity!

Can't get DNSFilter to work... RT-AC3100

Thanks... I did set the computer to get a DHCP address at one point... But, I think I did have the DHCP-DNS Servers set to the pi-hole... I've also left those blank and had the WAN DNS set to external... I thought that when I had Global set to Router that would capture ALL DNS (53) requests no...

Can't get DNSFilter to work... RT-AC3100

I can't seem to get DNSFilter to work. I thought I'd just try a simple setup and see if I could have DNSFilter force a computer on the network to use Quad9. I turned on DNSFilter and set Global to No Filtering... Set the computer MAC in the Client MAC Address space and chose Quad9... No go...

    Local DNS and VPN issue

FWIW... In order to have things work with my setup I finally just created another VPN and have my DNS servers traffic going that way... That allows me to keep local DNS functional. Accept DNS configuration is set to Disabled and I used an IP address for the VPN server instead of a hostname So...

    Local DNS and VPN issue

Thanks for responding... I had seen your post in one of my searches and found it quite useful and I did give it some thought as well. I'm wanting to stick with Pi-hole (Unbound/NSD) for now but that may change down the road. Thanks again.

    Local DNS and VPN issue

Having a problem getting local DNS to work when using a VPN for only some devices. I'm trying to stop DNS leaking but when I stop it local DNS doesn't work. I've got two local DNS servers on my LAN (192.168.1.6 and 192.168.1.8) that run Pi-Hole/Unbound/NSD. They are actually VMs on separate...
