    IPv6 Routing

centurylink hands out /56 via dhcp. soho routers are generally going to zero out the next 8 bits leaving you running the remaining 64 bits for your lan. ideally, to use the 8 free bits you'd use a router with multiple bridges configured /64 mask, though i'm not certain how that would be...

kindly do not spam the forums with essentially the same post such as this, it just looks like a SEO bait and switch, especially with these ancient threads

    Openvpn pre-configured?

ok, you'll need to make a copy of that whole config to /jffs/configs/smb.conf before your shares, add; hosts deny = 10.16.0.0/16 then, run; service restart_nasapps which should overwrite /etc/smb.conf when it reloads, if not, reboot

    Openvpn pre-configured?

would you mind dumping the contents of /etc/smb.conf here?

    Openvpn pre-configured?

is smb accessible from 10.16.0.1 or only 192.168.1.1 ? also, try the second option

    Openvpn pre-configured?

53 is DNS (name resolution) and 67 is DHCP, for obtaining an IP address. although, i'm pretty sure openvpn handles that, but I figured just in case. [edit/] feel free to change that line to; iptables -I INPUT -i tun22 -p udp ! --dport 53 -j DROP sorry, haven't slept :p

    Openvpn pre-configured?

only directly to the router, thanks to the INPUT chain

upgrading router - biggest concern is walls

my god. ok, between the options listed, definitely the ac56 as it will offer the better routing performance and the wifi should be sufficient. i'd also seriously consider something along the lines of the ac68u. it also comes in white (ac68w) :D I figured it was unlikely, but I don't see...

Network Map feature does not fully map network

known issue and probably not in the near future, sorry. I suggest dropping Asus a line.

upgrading router - biggest concern is walls

ok, so your goal is high powered 2.4ghz N for a 900sqft Apartment. I don't have experience with the AC66U, but I can attest to the performance of the N66U and the AC56U. 1.) pretty much any router/ap that somebody might suggest on this forum will slaughter the wifi performance of that...

Really Basic L2 Managed Switch Question

couple things; check the NIC configure options and anything that has 'offloading' in it, disable. (or enable) when you are doing these file copies, particularly NAS to NAS or NAS to router, are you doing something like copy/paste between network shares? in this case, you're probably doing...

    Home Network Setup

gmalik, you just want to do something like connect the NAS to the router in the utility closet and then connect the n66u, etc to the run leading to the livingroom, then various wired/wireless devices directly to that? it would be easy enough, just set the n66u to 'AP mode' when you install it...

    Home Page Changes

I actually like the design, but there does seem to be a lot of open space in those squares that could otherwise display a preview of the text in the article, etc. also, i'd not be averse to the entire boxes being a clickable link to the article as opposed to just the article title. fwiw...

LAN Design for a Seperate Guest house

essentially the right idea. 1.) turning off DHCP on the modem won't be helpful UNLESS you can set it to bridge mode, so only the new router is acting as the firewall and doing NAT. if the modem cannot be set to bridge mode, then you should leave DHCP enabled and set the new router to...

SECURITY: LAN-side security hole - mitigation

it appears to be some kind of device discovery service, perhaps specifically for finding other asus products. I've actually had this port blocked for a few months and not noticed it impact anything in the router or the web interface. [edit/] RMerlin took a look at the affected code and...
