Access devices in OpenVPN network created by two behind-NAT routers?

this is what you need to play with; http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/security/security-howto/30353-how-to-set-up-a-site-to-site-vpn-with-openvpn [edit/] i just realized i was using the netmask 255.255.255.0 in the actual config, which overwrites the generated config via webui; long story...

Is N66U still a good choice?

the n66u could do the job, but you'd be a lot happier with an ac68 or newer with that internet bandwidth

    ASUS N66U and AC56U

that is a solid point. some might argue that this increases received interference, but i wonder if this is better for the clients because it would enable the AP to negotiate around other APs closer to the client, as opposed to jamming fringe APs (and vice-versa)

    Asus RT-n66u as music player

awesome use of a router lol. it's been years since i used mpd

    ASUS N66U and AC56U

it appears you believe that as long as the signal range of an AP and the signal range of a client overlap, a connection is possible. unless the devices themselves both are within each other's radiated signal, there is no communication, period. using TCP as an example; if an AP is...

How do I properly cascade two linksys routers?

i know that ipv4 is essentially classless now, but 192.168/16 is still reserved for private use. this should be subnetted, not changed. if you are unfamiliar with subnetting, just stick with /24 and use the third octet to create networks and leave the 4th octet for host addresses

How to begin with Home Automation?

i am not so fortunate; my thermostat thinks it should turn the heat on if i set the temp too low lol at the last place i lived, the original thermostat would just let a/c run forever. i replaced it with something cheap made in this decade and was saving ~30usd/mo.

Asus RTAC68W or rt-ac68u which is better

    W is better. jk, they're identical :p

How to begin with Home Automation?

nice thread i know the first thing i want is a new thermostat. nothing seems to send electric bills into the stratosphere like a crappy old thermostat. i'll keep an eye on this thread.

    Network Speed Qusetion

for intra lan traffic, all ports are perfectly capable of achieving their max throughput simultaneously. ie, traffic between ports 1 & 2 will not affect traffic between ports 3 & 4. switching is unaffected by the cpu as the switch is essentially creating independent circuits between ports and...

    AC56S custom firmware??

the ac56s will likely not receive support from 3rd party firmwares as it's market seems to be entirely for the one SG ISP. at this time, you are better off leaving it alone. fortunately for you, though, you shouldn't have any wifi region problems :p

Asus locking down routers to comply with new FCC rules

ok riddle me this; i recall there being situations in which keys have been leaked. i've personally pulled cleartext passwords from memory. if these keys are stored on the device to decrypt whatever, what happens when the device is reverse engineered and techniques made public/automated? am i...
