USB to 2.5Gbe adapter on AX88U

Interesting... It sounds like you were able to force successfully the <balance-rr> mode#0 for the LAN-side between (eth3) and (eth4) as per the attached while the GUI only provides Mode#4. "I think this could be used on the WAN side as well.": I have been wanting for some time to force...

AX88U WAN aggregation using Merlin firmware

It looks like you might be right about new firmware making it into the SuperHub4 and breaking the round-robin unofficial suport: https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Networking-and-WiFi/SH4-new-firmware-July-2022-Green-Ring-in-Modem-Bridge-Mode-round/td-p/5062034 I am currently looking into...

AX88U WAN aggregation using Merlin firmware

I logged into my ASUS account (the one where you can register your products) and highlighted my AX86U and created a "support ticket"

AX88U WAN aggregation using Merlin firmware

If you want to add a 2.5 GbE interface to your AX88U , you might want to know about this post: https://wu.renjie.im/blog/network/ax88u-nbase-t/ which is somewhat being discussed here: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/usb-to-2-5gbe-adapter-on-ax88u.67402/page-9 However, I only see the benefit...

AX88U WAN aggregation using Merlin firmware

I looked into the matter further after getting the <asuswrt-merlin.ng> repo git'ed out. https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin.ng/wiki/Compile-Firmware-from-source I do not believe for a moment there is any real HW limitations - I seem to remember the section of source code where the WAN...

AX88U WAN aggregation using Merlin firmware

Noted. Thanks. ASUS product support contacted and got the following reply, (not surprising): " Thank you for contacting ASUS Support. Sadly this cannot be implemented due to product hardware design. It already has 2.5 Gigabit WAN port therefore the limitation comes from the ISP equipment...

AX86U LAN Link Aggregation: doesn't seem to be working?

Thanks. On your recommendations I have now created a dedicated thread on the subject of <WAN-LinkAggregation-Mode#0> and hopefully someone might have an idea as to whether it is feasible or not and how much effort it would take to allow this mode to run. If it is feasible I can certainly see...

AX86U LAN Link Aggregation: doesn't seem to be working?

Thanks. I will certainly try your suggestion of opening a new thread. My understanding of the bonding driver in the asuswrt-merlin firmware is that is it based on <bonding.ko> which has all of the modes implemented but only 802.3ad=Mode=4 was verified... RMerlin notes on the matter...

RT-AC86U WAN Aggregation support in Merlin

Thanks. In this particular case the ISP modem itself is already in a mode that supports LinkAgg but only in Mode#0 (balance-rr) Mode#4 (802.3ad) is not supported. Many people had success with the Mikrotik RouterOS products (fork of Linux) where choosing the Bonding mode to #0 was made easy....

    Enabling Link Aggregation via NVRAM?

You probably figured this out already but if not, the ethX number mapping vs. LANx-enclosure print is as per diagram of the AX86U attached

AX86U LAN Link Aggregation: doesn't seem to be working?

@Tech Junky , @i0ntempest Are you aware of a method to change AX86U-WAN-LinkAggregation Mode from #4 (802.3ad) to Mode#0 (balance-rr) ? For my modem Mode#0 is required to achive > (940Mbps) and WAN Link AGG fails if I keep the 802.3ad mode#4. Orignal post asking about help no the matter...

RT-AC86U WAN Aggregation support in Merlin

@L&LD Have you ever resolved the matter of enabling WAN-LinkAggregation on the AC86U ? I am looking into WAN-LinkAggregation for the newer AX86U (ASUS officially advertising WAN LinkAggregation on the WAN), but for my setup the mode is not the one that I am after. I happen to also have an...

AX88U WAN aggregation using Merlin firmware

@RMerlin : Is there a possibility to change the <WAN-Link Aggregation> mode from #4(802.3ad) to #0(balance-rr) on an RT-AX86U (f/w : Merlin 386.5) ? My ISP (Virgin UK) provides 1.2-Gbps but I cannot achieve the maximum speed without also introducing WAN-Link Aggregation Mode#0 <balance-rr> as...

Solutions to multiple issues with SSL certificates

Came across this thread: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/wildcard-cert-for-ddns-lets-encrypt.63719/ which suggests that the current closed-source of Let's encrypt will not work with wildcard "*" character in the DDNS Hostname and with Let'sEncrypt to generate a single SSL certification for...

Solutions to multiple issues with SSL certificates

Thank you. I used your custom DDNS "tar" repackaging solution with Let'sEncrypt and it worked as suggested (although I had to first wait for 7 days as I had previously used all of the allocated attempts with Let's encrypt...) . I am wondering if the wildcard "*" character for domain *and*...
