    I'm still looking for wireless coverage comparisons of newer models. Do you have any data on that? AiMESS will never be acceptable to me on a 2 radio router and even on a 3, not so much, unless the 3rd radio is a different technology.

    You and I have and others have had many exchanges on AiMesh and why I don't believe a 2 radio solution is well conceived and the problems it introduces. Plus, it's not really a mesh to begin with, so no, AiMesh is off the table for me. Too many shortcomings/problems and absolutely no benefits...

    I hear ya but I even run different brand routers as APs. That's the beautiful thing about wires and allowing you to repurpose a lot of real good hardware that can still have a useful life :)

    I'm not sure it matters for the AP and it's my understanding that the August ASUS AC68 release has security updates that Merlin won't have (I understand the reasoning for "trimming" support so I'm not complaining). If I were foolish enough to use AiMesh I'd agree but that's not in the cards...

    What's on the other end of the uplink? I had a couple TPLINK (I think) 8 port Gb switches that didn't like ASUS AC-68 routers for some reason and when they decided to stop communicating I needed to power cycle one end or the other. I no longer use them.
