    Custom login screen

I've got a number of APs in the house and would like to easily know which one I'm logged in to. Is there a way to place a unique name on the initial login screen, like maybe an NVRAM variable? I'd also like it to show up in the upper left of the sub.menu screens. I'm guessing these are static...

    3.0.0.4.385_10000 woes

If you've got an option for a wired backhaul I see no benefit and many pitfalls in using AiMesh over AP mode. One being the forced use of a single channel on all APs under AiMesh and when there is overlap as you point out, it's a headache. Besides, most of the control for roaming is in the...

Looking for two Lap tops, Can I get some help choosing which.

Not going to argue anymore about this. It was my business. What I've said is backed up by research and real world experience. I've given you multiple scenarios from case flex to heat to dirt to vibration to a host of other issues. Any successful professional in the field will tell you the...

Looking for two Lap tops, Can I get some help choosing which.

Business use is typically more strenuous, includes more mobility/travel, and the devices see more abuse in general. More abuse translates into all kinds of additional stress on the cases and hardware plus more heat stress and other factors. They typically operate in dirtier environments adding...

10GB NIC only getting 1GB speeds

I'm doing this from memories of 10G introduction time frames and I'll also add that I've now been retired for almost 4 years so memories fade. Forgive me if I've missed and/or mis-spoken below. Just trying to give you ideas. iPerf was the spot check tool of choice for my techs when customers...

10GB NIC only getting 1GB speeds

Check the slot you've used for the 10G card and make sure it has enough "lanes" allocated.

Looking for two Lap tops, Can I get some help choosing which.

Ya, I'm not talking small business stuff, especially not that small. I run my home tighter than most small business footprints. That's like "pro-sumer". I'll stand by my statement that any consumer grade device will exhibit the same behavior when used in a true business environment. It's...

Looking for two Lap tops, Can I get some help choosing which.

There is a HUGE difference between consumer grade laptops and business grade laptops in both price and quality. I suspect had you also bought consumer grade from ANY of the "big vendors" and placed them in a business use environment that they too would have failed in a similar rate and fashion...

And I just noticed I answered old questions in an old thread :) Glad to see you got things resolved! HAPPY NEW YEAR :)

Looking for two Lap tops, Can I get some help choosing which.

I've had great luck with Acer laptops for the past 10 years. Made multiple purchases for friends and family. Always got their mid-range product. When I was working for a large silicon maker in sales and marketing I traveled a lot and the Lenovos were always my choice every two years for...

Looking for two Lap tops, Can I get some help choosing which.

While I agree with the premise what you need to watch for is most devices in the mentioned price range no longer have a "door" or a "slide in" for the disk and that means opening the "shell" to replace the drive. That also means voiding most warranties. Just tossing that out there.

    RT-AC68U Terrible Wireless Signal

And I'm not saying the power wart is the issue but if it's bad and putting out low voltage that could also cause over heating of some components. If it's putting out low amperage it could cause issues. Those power warts are failure prone. It's just an easy and inexpensive thing to try. I...

    RT-AC68U Terrible Wireless Signal

Just for grins, have you tried a different power supply? It sometimes helps. Over the years these kind of issues have come up with inexpensive consumer equipment. Also, if possible, use a replacement supply with a slightly higher amperage (not voltage). This along with complete factory reset...

fixed: no wifi indication on my iphone se

I'm on 2.5 acres in a "acreage subdivision" as well and have pretty free access to the entire 2.4 and 5 GHz spectrum for WiFi. As I said, my old iPhones had issues and my S8+ has issues when it comes to deciding on where to connect for internet requests, especially when I have WiFi calling...

fixed: no wifi indication on my iphone se

In general, I find that phones are kind of wonky when it comes to switching back and forth between WiFi and carrier signal for internet access. I haven't had an iPhone since the 6S and use a galaxy S8+ now. I know there are "preference settings" to help "steer the connection" but even at that...

*SOLVED* Can't get past the router.

How about a little more information on how things are connected? What ISP? Do they have their own equipment to terminate at your location? If so, is it a modem or a router combo? Are you double NAT or bridged .... Need all the basics of the setup before diagnosis. This behavior happens a...

New Asus Router working with Internet but not PCs

Can you browse the internet on PC B? I've seen no indication that this PC ever got properly reconnected after the swap. The need for the PIN tells me it's unable to communicate with his MS account and more data that says it's just not connected properly. Please take a screen capture similar...

You mention it's been running for days but I'll ask direct (implied in other post). Did you restart/reboot EVERYTHING - switches, hubs, PC's, ........

Need Advice for AiMesh with AC86U primary with two AC68U nodes

Given what I see in your diagrams you're similar to one section of my setup with the downstairs/upstairs router separated by 30ish horizontal feet and 10-15 vertical feet. MY advice after wasting a lot of time with AiMesh is to reset ALL NODES to factory, go into recovery mode, reload all the...

    AiMesh node from LAN port?

Yes, same SSID (all APs/all frequencies, e.g. ONE SSID FOR ALL), ... Typically different channels. Roaming is mostly a client controlled activity and I'm typically stationary or stationary enough to remain within the access point I'm connected to. However if I do walk room to room it will...
