FQ-Codel not working well in practice - broken implementation ?

How do you modify that? Is that what I'm missing that's leading to fq_codel doing effectively zilch for me?

FQ-Codel not working well in practice - broken implementation ?

How on Earth? What modem/router combo are you using? I'm using a Docsis 3.1 SB8200 and a AC86U. Any streaming downstairs just saps my connection. Sad that I can pick up older hardware and run more up to date fq_codel on it and it absolutely would stomp what I have going here with the AC86U.

    Adaptive QoS Broken

I just don't understand why it is that Asus' QoS implementation needs so much doctoring. You shouldn't have to install 3rd party firmware in the first place to get a semi-functional build. I've since search dozens of threads to find similar results with fq_codel. Kind of regretting the 86U...

    Adaptive QoS Broken

That I am and thus why I want to make use of it

    Adaptive QoS Broken

Darn that's unfortunate - a more updated version of fq_codel perhaps?
  6. Find the Door

    Adaptive QoS Broken

Yeah I've tried SFQ but it's nearly the same. A little better but not by much.
  7. Find the Door

    Adaptive QoS Broken

Is there any chance this could be updated or something like cake could be added? Because as of now it appears to only be functioning on the download side of things.
  8. Find the Door

    Adaptive QoS Broken

Yeah, when I was on Brainslayers DDWRT build FQ_Codel was bulletproof and performed perfectly - I was floored! It's too bad my RT-AC5300 took a dump as now with the AC86U I don't have much choice but to use stock or Merlin.

    Adaptive QoS Broken

I believe there's something wrong with Adaptive QoS on 384.4 _2 (AC86U). With the same values I get the below results with consistency. I have a Netgear CM600 hooked up currently but get similar results with a CM1000 or SB8200 hooked up as well. This is using fq_codel with the same up and...

    DD-WRT for Asus rt-ac5300

Can't JTAG it. I didn't serial it and have no idea how that's done I just know that's what would've had to have been done. Tried everything else though as far as pinging it, using Wireshark to find the new rouge dhcp server. No luck and no response. Ultimately I switched it for an AC86U and...

    ROG Rapture GT-AC5300 (Owners)

I actually ended up going with the AC86U due to the GPU. I've heard mixed things about the GT for sure I'll let you know how the 86 turns out.

    RT-AC86U vs RT-AC5300

I believe they both have range boost, but regardless I'd anticipate the 5300 to have better range regardless. In my set-up apartment I shouldn't notice a difference at worst and should notice the benefits at best.
  13. Find the Door

    RT-AC86U vs RT-AC5300

To my understanding for CPU reliant tasks like QoS and VPN you'd see a difference even if a small one. I'm personally for any ounce better I can get when considering and upgrade.
  14. Find the Door

    RT-AC86U vs RT-AC5300

I definitely need QoS as I have high demand streams that interferes with gaming.

    RT-AC86U vs RT-AC5300

My exact thoughts as well. I'm looking forward to it myself for the same reasons.

    RT-AC86U vs RT-AC5300

Hi all, I currently have the RT-AC5300 but am wrestling with the idea of the AC86U. I'm tempted by the CPU discrepancy personally. I have a modest configuration with two wired clients (PS4 Pro, 4k HDR Smart tv) and three wireless clients (two phones, 1 other 4k HDR Smart tv) The wired smart...

    RT-AC5300 and Flow Accelerator

Would the RT-AC86U be able to accommodate this? Also is the 86U supported by you?

    Noob afraid to upgrade Merlin

I disagree - I just bricked an RT-5300 this weekend by way of a bad DD WRT flash. It can happen, and your only option is serial at that point. Wouldn't boot to recovery mode for anything. Wouldn't even ping - she was a gonner otherwise. Saved by way of a 2 years later Amazon exchange lol.

    DD-WRT for Asus rt-ac5300

For what it's worth I bricked my RT-AC5300 with the only option to breathe life back into it via serial. I ended up just getting exchange thanks to a generous exception made via Amazon. I'd caution anyone doing this after the Asus Bootloader update that they've employed to restrict 3rd party...
