[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.63 Beta is now available

Ac3200 upgraded and all looks good. I have noticed that DDNS no longer seems to update on an ip change, a manual apply on the DDNS page updates fine but doesn't seem to update on a change of IP address on the WAN. I noticed the issue when my OpenVPN link seemed to fail when out and about and...

Great news indeed. FYI there is a new firmware version for the vigor 130 which meets new regulatory requirements, I highly recommend installing this ASAP. Download from draytek's site and install via web interface.

    Getting Modem Stats

Change your subnet masks to 255.255.255.0 and it should work. You will never be able to reach the modem IP address from your internal lan because the router has been told it is in the same network and will not route the traffic.

    Getting Modem Stats

I have also noticed you have set a subnet mask of 255.255.252.0 on your internal lan, this will mean the internal lan will include the modem IP range you are trying to access. This is shown on your br0 IP output in your screenshot, change this to 255.255.255.0 and also change your dhcp to this...

    Getting Modem Stats

Eth0:0 is on the same subnet as the modem, it is a sub interface of eth0

    Getting Modem Stats

I have this setup without any changes to the nat config. He isn't seeing the MAC address in the arp table so this needs to be sorted first of all.

    Getting Modem Stats

Reboot and then repost a screenshot of the arp command output after running a ping to 192.168.2.1. Also send a screenshot of the ifconfig command output too
  10. J

    Getting Modem Stats

Eth0:0 is the sub interface you are creating to connect to the modem
  11. J

    Getting Modem Stats

The command to setup the sub interface you need to make the subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and not 255.255.252.0 as you have it. The command is the one you have in your wan-start script and is on the router.
  12. J

    Getting Modem Stats

Your subnet mask is wrong, change it to 255.255.255.0 on your sub interface.
  13. J

    Getting Modem Stats

Try the ping again and then see if you get an arp entry for 192.168.2.1 You can view the arp table by typing arp and pressing enter. If you see a valid entry there your firewall is probably blocking connection. If no arp entry is shown the sub interface isn't setup correctly. Have you...

    Getting Modem Stats

Can you ping 192.168.2.1 from the router via telnet?
  15. J

    Getting Modem Stats

My wan-start script is as follows #!/bin/sh ifconfig eth0:0 192.168.2.2 netmask 255.255.255.0 Try the ifconfig command directly in the command line and see if you can ping 192.168.2.1 from the command line of the router.
  16. J

    Getting Modem Stats

    Use subnet 255.255.255.0

    Getting Modem Stats

Hi, I have the exactly the same setup as you; follow my steps and it should work for you. Sky fibre works differently from BT etc. And requires a sub interface to be setup.
  18. J

    Getting Modem Stats

Have you entered the command into the shell via telnet/ssh to create the sub interface? If yes can you ping the modem from the router via telnet/ssh?

    Getting Modem Stats

Sky fibre VDSL uses a bridged connection with mac encapsulated routing and not PPPoE. This means the modem is completely passive in the connection hence requiring a sub interface to connect to the modem interface.
  20. J

    Getting Modem Stats

I may be wrong but the requirement for a sub interface may be required for bridged connections (e.g. Sky VDSL) and it may work without for adsl or similar connections.
