    Asus RT-AC68 offered 3.0.0.4.384_45708

I had actively monitor my WAN and only allow limited access, these auto update check seems safe but it isn't in somecase, for example when I audit my foscam cam I found it will contact AWS if you config it by app(so you don't need any ip for the app to connect the cam), I can sniff the traffic...

    Asus RT-AC68 offered 3.0.0.4.384_45708

I use it as AP and I had block it in firewall, for me it will check for 3 times per day with retry after 30 second when fail. Asus should allow us to disable the auto update checking.

Really disappointed with AiMesh, I switched to something else

Speak about guest wifi, I really love synology guest wifi which will auto change the password and send e-mail to notify you, I didn't see any "home" wifi router can do this, and this is extreme useful.

    RT-AC86U and Universal Beamforming...

In short, universal beamforming(implicit beamforming) is the router try to guess how to beamform to the device, the device don't need to do anything at all, that why it work for all device but it just a best effort, so it won't work well for some case explicit beamforming (and the ac...

Stock ASUS Firmware & Webcam blocked over internet, available via VPN?

The problem is whenever you block the cam access to internet with "block internet access" and "parental controls" it also block access from VPN, that's why I said use the "Network Services Filter" and white list the cam video port, or black list the port 443. anyway the foscam should not phone...

Stock ASUS Firmware & Webcam blocked over internet, available via VPN?

did you try the "Firewall - Network Services Filter "? About the foscam phone home, I think they had fix it by provide firmware update which can truly disable the p2p function, I didn't see any phone home for my R2, I had monitor its connection before and I only see it connect to the NTP server...

Really disappointed with AiMesh, I switched to something else

I found enable "Protected Management Frames" will affect aimesh, so I always disable it when using aimesh I love to have a real mesh with 802.11r/k/v as well, but either them lack ethernet backhaul or force to use app to setup, or can't set sperate SSID for 2G and 5G, or need a controller, or...

Buying a second Asus router to be a dedicated VPN router, thoughts?

good solutions are not cheap, at least not like $25 with a friendly interface. either you spend more or build you own solutions, or find a old PC/notebook to run the VPN server.

Loosing almost 80% speed through my RT-AC68U.

Not quite true, as many of these product also listed their throughput under different condition and most of them are still way better than a consumer router, even after QoS and many of those advanced feature, so it will be easier to predict the performance hit for these business router. But I...

Loosing almost 80% speed through my RT-AC68U.

With 1Gbit connection most if not all consumer router can't handle QoS, firewall at the same time, funny is some business router are cheaper then many gaming router and can handle these easily, such as the draytek 2960 I used for years and my CCR1009. And they are more stable too.

Possible solution to AiMesh wired backhaul network instability

It will be great if there is a list dos and don'ts, or how aimesh decide go for wifi or ethernet. I had tried different combination of setup, also try setup the switch as a dump switch. Block the node to node wifi is the last resort, and at least it work, and I am not going to replace those...

Possible solution to AiMesh wired backhaul network instability

No No No, as of 384_32799 the MAC list will sync to the node, so all I need is put all the 68U 2.4G and 5G MACs in the web GUI then it will sync them to the node and seems prevent each node connect to others by wifi. I always use wired backhaul through 3~4 switch, some are cisco, some are HP...

Possible solution to AiMesh wired backhaul network instability

I tried 1. just the node 2. all the wifi's mac in the web GUI, it seems no different between them. I am using the 68U as AP with a CCR1009 as router, I start to block the wifi's mac because I saw loopback warning for the node. I didn't try the latest firmware yet
