Alert! Someone accessing my RT-AC68U from WAN

Basically it's all about where the traffic get into the VPN and who is the provider of the VPN. In short when you enable VPN server in router A, and use VPN client in router B connect to it, then the router B will be able to Router A network. Most VPN client in consumer router will force all...

Alert! Someone accessing my RT-AC68U from WAN

In case I don't know there is something new, is that the VPN server in asus don't need to have a open port for access? And when port forward everyone should consider limit the accessable IP, in this case it should limit to teamviewer server which send the WOL packet. I am using always on...

Alert! Someone accessing my RT-AC68U from WAN

In case you still need to do WOL, there are many way to do that but may be the simplest for you is install teamviewer and enable WOL in teamviewer, sure you need to port forward udp 9 (actually I had forget it use tcp or udp).

"Trend Micro, Inc." Apps caught stealing and uploading browser history

And if they really care about customer they will never do that in day 1. Sure there are many software out there collecting user data but many of them allow a complete opt-out without disable most of the software function. It is bad for ASUS/Trendmicro insist it is opt-in or nothing, and I am...

Why use AiMesh if you can connect APs via Ethernet?

Actually I don't like the wireless power level to be sync, with older AImesh firmware I used to control each AP wl pwr, right now it is out of control and may be I will go back to multi-AP.

    QoS Mysteries

Asus QoS is quite buggy and not flexible enough, I also had some bad experience when using it with VOIP and my result similar to yours. Here is some test result of another brand router with PCQ only (means only guarantee bandwidth, no priority), I am on 1G ethernet (FTTB), you can see that there...

    AC66U-B1 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384_32738

About roaming block list, what happen if the device connect to a weak signal AP first? I think the roaming block list will be more useful if we can lock down which AP the device can connect to.

    Anyone using link aggregation?

As I remember Intel LACP support for Win10 was removed long time ago, dunno if they had add it back. I also remember MS had totally remove LACP support in win10 client, so you need 3rd party software such as Intel teaming to do that. I didn't use win10 on any wired PC I am using I350-T4 on win 7/8.1

    Your opinions on AiMesh

I will not use gt-ac5300 as main router, I will choose a more professional one and use 2*AC86U or even AC68U as AP. Depends on the location you may end up using 2.4G for backhaul so the AC68U and AC86U will not have much differnet. I am using AC68U/86U for indoor as it is really good for that...

    Router choice?

Exactly what I am doing, I agree using aimesh, or some real mesh AP will much better then a single AC5300 p.s. for the apartment I use 3*AC68U, for the house I use AC86u to provide wifi for my garden and mesh from another brand for the whole house

    Router choice?

We have both 68U and 86U. If you don't need VPN and just need a simple wifi router then you can go for either one. 5G is great but depends on your house you may end up using 2.4G. I have 86U at first floor and the 5G signal is really bad at second floor, for another apartment we need 3*68U for...

How to Disable AiProtection By Mac Address

We don't rely on aiprotection for protection, we use fortigate and checkpoint to protect our main network, as I said, aiprotection is just a "better then nothing" solution for our guest. By the way our guest can still infect each others even if nothing is bypass

How to Disable AiProtection By Mac Address

Just because you don't have any problem doesn't means it is not a good decision, in one of our network we are using CCR1072 as main router which the main part of the network is protect by some firewall, the asus is behind the ccr1072 and have it own public IP to provide wifi for our guest, we...

Ping lost when reboot AC68U main/node

Yes it is related to flow control, and the problem is the ac68u generate too much pause frame which cause the problem, and when reboot the ac68u generate 1000+ pause frame within 2~3 second in my case. I don't have this problem with AP from other manufacturer. We found it may related to the...
