Release Asus ZenWiFi XT8 - New Firmware: 3.0.0.4.386_45934

Thank you both for your input. I did find 3.0.0.4.386_45934 reliable except for my wife's work VoIP phone (works from home) had issues of the audio constantly breaking up which does not seem to happen with 42095

Release Asus ZenWiFi XT8 - New Firmware: 3.0.0.4.386_45934

I am back on 42095 which is not without some issues and still needs rebooting every couple of weeks. Seems impossible to get reliable firmware for the XT8 which is a shame as it is excellent in so many ways. My old RT-N66 would run for months without any issues. It would be nice if ASUS could...

Release Asus ZenWiFi XT8 - New Firmware: 3.0.0.4.386_45898

You did Only change settings past defaults if you know what you're doing, and/or, you fully test that you didn't break what was working before. If/when you do find the specific action that breaks your network, ask questions here (there and everywhere) and if it can't be fixed, don't bang your...

Release Asus ZenWiFi XT8 - New Firmware: 3.0.0.4.386_45898

OR - load new firmware - reset all settings to default - configure SSIDs to suit your situation - use a free WiFi analyser to determine who in your immediate vacinity is using what channel (2.4 and 5ghz) and set yours to one that is least used - connect devices i.e. do the minimum and leave...

Release Asus ZenWiFi XT8 - New Firmware: 3.0.0.4.386_45898

At the risk of being flamed - does anyone think there are too many parameters that can be altered by the end user in the software for these routers resulting in an impossible job (of their own making) for ASUS to work out whether the firmware is stable or not. Roaming, RSSI etc. etc.

    Release Asus XT8 - 3.0.0.4.386.43181 - 2021/06/17

I have also returned to 42095 with a weekly scheduled reboot and it has been rock solid. I shall be staying with this firmware until someone here says there is something better.

    Release Asus XT8 - 3.0.0.4.386.43181 - 2021/06/17

Back to 42095. WiFi speeds dropped on 5ghz even with daily reboots on 43181. Will we ever get stable firmware? Looking unlikely!

    Release Asus XT8 - 3.0.0.4.386.43181 - 2021/06/17

Got this working in a satisfactory manner by scheduling a reboot daily at 02:00. My old RT N66U would run for months without a reboot. Progress?

    Release Asus XT8 - 3.0.0.4.386.43181 - 2021/06/17

Still the same old problem. Works reliably for a few days then strangely things like Smart Switches start to operate sluggishly if at all and CCTV cameras drop off the system. A reboot puts everything back to normal again.

    Release Asus XT8 - 3.0.0.4.386.43181 - 2021/06/17

Updated to 43181, did not hard reset and no disconnection issues thus far - early days!

    Release Zenwifi XT8 Firmware 3.0.0.4.386_43170

One observation with these mesh routers is that they take a few days after new firmware or a reboot to sort themselves out with regards to what equipment is going to be connected to what node and then they settle down to reliable functionality.

    Release Zenwifi XT8 Firmware 3.0.0.4.386_43170

Latest firmware has my smart plugs dropping off the system and odd Sonos speakers. Going to have revert back to previous firmware.

    ZenWiFi AX XT8 - Have I made a mistake?

Just getting my pair ready for return to Amazon. I have apologised profusely to my ageing RT-N66 with Merlin Firmware that has performed flawlessly for the last 8 years. All sorts of issues with the XT8 - dropping connections, USB Drive (SMB for Sonos) has to be plugged in and out to remount it...
