[Official Beta] AiMesh beta firmware for RT-AC68U/RT-AC86U/RT-AC5300/RT-AC88U

You can still use the ISP router for NAT/ DHCP and use the TM-1900's as mesh AP's. More or less what I'm doing since the AT&T modem/ router can't be bypassed (least not the model I have).

[Official Beta] AiMesh beta firmware for RT-AC68U/RT-AC86U/RT-AC5300/RT-AC88U

@arthurlien , what issues with using a GT-AC5300 as router and node?

[Official Beta] AiMesh beta firmware for RT-AC68U/RT-AC86U/RT-AC5300/RT-AC88U

Agreed! Not complaining at all. This firmware is way better than what I had before...was about to sell and get Orbis or something as my house is just big enough where the 1 router just didn’t quite cover. Hopefully in the future with wired backhaul it will allow the full 80MHz. Sent from my...

[Official Beta] AiMesh beta firmware for RT-AC68U/RT-AC86U/RT-AC5300/RT-AC88U

I have 1 GT-AC5300 as router and another as node. Router both channels show 80MHz and the node shows lower @ 20MHz and upper @ 80MHz. Have very little interference. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

[Official Beta] AiMesh beta firmware for RT-AC68U/RT-AC86U/RT-AC5300/RT-AC88U

On GT-AC5300 the node is still using just the 20MHz wide channel for the lower 5G-1, but 80MHz on upper 5G-2. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

[Official Beta] AiMesh beta firmware for RT-AC68U/RT-AC86U/RT-AC5300/RT-AC88U

Played with roaming assist at all? Not sure if it should be used or not. I just enabled it to see how it would do. Seem to hang as stuff won’t load right away, but then I do a speed test and all seems fine (just did 5ma ping and 400Mbps up/ down and after all loads as it should). Have only...

[Official Beta] AiMesh beta firmware for RT-AC68U/RT-AC86U/RT-AC5300/RT-AC88U

Assuming that's likely due to the wireless backhaul channel between the two? I know for mine, it's uses a 20MHz block out of the 80 allocated on the lower 5G-1 channel from the node.

There is a new beta FW out for it. Initial for AiMesh was released last month and new one just today. I have 2 of these currently running in AiMesh and have been pretty happy so far, but haven’t had a chance to really test anything just yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

[Official Beta] AiMesh beta firmware for RT-AC68U/RT-AC86U/RT-AC5300/RT-AC88U

What is the consensus on using Roaming Assist? Seems initially my clients want to stay on the main AP. Have tried both wireless and wired and seems to work fine (had to move from bedroom to media room since wife didn't want it in there even though at any given time we have 4-5 devices in there...

[Official Beta] AiMesh beta firmware for RT-AC68U/RT-AC86U/RT-AC5300/RT-AC88U

Seeing a list of pre-configured names when I click on the node in a drop-down here.

[Official Beta] AiMesh beta firmware for RT-AC68U/RT-AC86U/RT-AC5300/RT-AC88U

Looks like the lower channel (5G-1) is what's used for backhaul as I see 20Mhz BW and upper (5G-2) is at 80Mhz BW.

[Official Beta] AiMesh beta firmware for RT-AC68U/RT-AC86U/RT-AC5300/RT-AC88U

Currently have 1 GT-AC5300 running in master (AP AiMesh) mode and 1 GT-AC5300 running as AiMesh node. Still too early to provide any meaningful feedback.

[Official Beta] AiMesh beta firmware for RT-AC68U/RT-AC86U/RT-AC5300/RT-AC88U

Sure hope it can be router as I have 2 sitting here...will hopefully have a chance to test shortly since 1 hasn't even been out of the box just waiting for the right firmware.

[Official Beta] AiMesh beta firmware for RT-AC68U/RT-AC86U/RT-AC5300/RT-AC88U

Really hoping the next release works some miracles on the GT-AC5300. Just picked up another one as before I was considering scrapping and going another direction until I saw this fw come out. Hardware specs are great...just hoping we get the fw to go with it.

Noticed the same...guess wanting to commandeer it for backhaul use even though I don’t have a node set up. I’d been considering selling and getting some sort of mesh even though none out there fit what I want/ need. My old r7000 was way more stable, had better coverage, and speeds were just as...
