    Which AX router

Unless you're getting them at bargain basement prices and/or you've already got AX clients that will be able to leverage the AX standards I'd skip the AX stuff for at least the first product cycle. Little to no benefits over a top end AC router and you're not running the risk of a first gen...

Where to find old AC68U/R Firmwares?

Have you tried putting it into recovery mode and loading the firmware that way? Before you do, reset it to factory. ** JUST NOTICED this is an older thread.

    Open Box/Refurb RT-AC3100

Probably should have tried that but it's too late, already at the UPS store :)

    Open Box/Refurb RT-AC3100

Well the 5Ghz radio decided to call it quits today. I spent 3-4 hours with the chicken bones and garlic but it wasn't in the cards to resurrect. It's going back to Newegg, this time as a return. They've got them listed for sale (open box/refurb) but they're now $100 and I just decided the...

Ars: D-Link agrees to settle FTC charges

REALLY? Sorry but that's such an inane statement. Bless your heart.

Ars: D-Link agrees to settle FTC charges

OK, if you want to go to the absurd to try to prove an incorrect point here in this context then we're done. I don't do straw arguments. And I'll stand by my point. Even those regulations increase cost and raise the barriers to entry. Follow what was actually said and stop trying to be right...

Ars: D-Link agrees to settle FTC charges

But it still hasn't been........ There are truisms in the universe.

Then the website will either protect itself, or the network will protect itself, or it will be deemed not worth protecting. REGULATION never fixed anything better than the market. Regulation ALWAYS increases prices, stymies innovation, and decreases usefulness, ALWAYS!

Ars: D-Link agrees to settle FTC charges

Considering those are the exact markets being discussed ....... AND many of those other markets remain without competition because regulation creates too high a barrier of entry for competition to bloom.

Ars: D-Link agrees to settle FTC charges

It works just fine and you pointed that out. Some manufacturers provide ongoing updates and others do not. The market works, you've got a choice. I do NOT want the government regulating the Internet and it is NOT the role of government to protect the stupid. At least it's not supposed to be...

Ars: D-Link agrees to settle FTC charges

Nope, regulation stifles competition. I'm definitely sure I understand the two. UK and Canadian markets are very different so perhaps .... AGAIN, thanks for helping to make my point!

And THAT is why I buy ASUS products. They provide what I want, no regulation required. THAT is how the free market works! Again, thank for making my point!

And THIS is what typically is the biggest differentiation between consumer and business class products AND their respective costs. Right now you've got choice in pricing. Regulate that they both be near identical and they'll cost the same. Thanks for making my point!

Ars: D-Link agrees to settle FTC charges

YA, you'll have to show me that "history proves it". You closed with the real problem Consumers aren’t demanding better products." You should modify it to "Consumers aren’t demanding better products. That’s why they get what they ask for (or in this case don't)".

Ars: D-Link agrees to settle FTC charges

I'm really against all this ... Users need to do their homework and buy accordingly. If people started to buy based on performance/function/support instead of solely by price the manufacturers will respond. Regulation never does anything but drive up overall cost and stifle innovation. I...

    RT-AC68U Terrible Wireless Signal

Along with the resets mentioned, I've had need in the past to put the device into recovery mode and flash the firmware from there, then doing the resets again. I actually flashed an older version first and then repeated for the version I wanted. That cleared up issues I was having with an...

Cost not an obstacle, how would you proceed?

I'd suggest you revisit that because if the ROKU couldn't acknowledge the packets then the shouting would have been wasted. It's a complete and balanced two way street. Did you collect data from each end of the link? ROKU has "secret screens" where you can observe the connection information.

Cost not an obstacle, how would you proceed?

Being able to yell more loudly many times causes more problems than it solves!

Buying a switch, want it to be a "future proof" as possible

Your title asks about buying a switch but your post talks about owning S8000's and GS108's and asking why they perform differently. Are you wanting to buy another switch and want to choose between the two models you already own? Are you just wanting to buy another 8 port switch? I'm not sure...

SFP modules for Zyxel GS1100-24 switch

I've got a Zyxel GS1100-24 unmanaged 24 port Gb switch. It has the option for 2 extra ports that can use 1G copper SFP modules. I could use the two ports to delay bringing another 24 port Gb switch online (can't believe how inexpensive they've become). Yes the switch is "rated" for 26 active...
