    Unable to upload .txt file

While posting in a forum, I tried to upload a file, log.txt. I was able to select the file, but then the only choice was button "close", and when I closed, the file was not uploaded. Tried in Chrome and in Firefox with the same result. When I tried to upload a graphic file instead, it was...

Scanning external disk - is in use, aborting

When I pasted the log, it was blocked by the website for security reasons, probably something in the log looked like an attack. I tried to upload the file, but upload did not work either - I can select the file to upload, but when I click "close", nothing happens. So I put the log file on...

Scanning external disk - is in use, aborting

In Network Map, the USB drive shows up with red outline, with the message /dev/sda1 is in use. e2fsck: Cannot continue, aborting. An attempt to scan it results in the same message. Other than unplugging/replugging the drive, or rebooting the router, it there a more graceful way to have it...

QoS: only bandwidth limiter has effect

zino86 - Can you clarify - which QoS mode did you set - adaptive, traditional, or Bandwidth Limiter? what parameters did you specify for it?

Unable to update firmware from Asus 380.3264 to Merlin

Yes, I recently changed to Advanced Tomato, successfully, by following this article

A wish: adjust the scale of the dials at "Adaptive QoS" page

Would it be possible on the page "Adaptive QoS" to scale the dials according to the real maximum bandwidth? such as, if my maximum bandwidth is 6MB, then the dial should go to, say, 7-8. Currently it's fixed at 100. Same with the sliders representing the traffic used by each workstation under...

    AB-Solution 2.0 is out! (v2.0.1)

Can you tell, is there an effect in having ab-solution installed provided that all home users already have adblock (or ublock) in the browser?

    AB-Solution 2.0 is out! (v2.0.1)

    ...disregard, found the backup under /mnt/sda1, and it worked. When I start ab-solution, I see this: ================= AB-Solution 2.0.1 by thelonelycoder -------------------------------------------------- RT-AC68U (armv7l) fw-380.59 @ 192.168.1.1...

    AB-Solution 2.0 is out! (v2.0.1)

I don't see post-mount in backup. There is however services-start backup, but it's the same as /jffs/scripts/services-start.

    AB-Solution 2.0 is out! (v2.0.1)

Problem... The installation of ab-solution destroys already-installed Entware, and Transmission installed by it, as in https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin/wiki/Installing-Transmission-through-Entware . After ab-solution is installed, /opt/etc is not found.

Will I see an appreciable difference upgrading from N66U to AC68U?

I confirm what NetBuilder87 said, I actually changed from "U" to "P" after "U" died because of lighting strike. However, the only difference in speed you'll notice will be in it's own UI. Speaking of your initial question, the only meaningful difference is AI protection by TrendMicro, which...

QoS: only bandwidth limiter has effect

    > QoS tech is not yet as sophisticated as you would want. My whole point is that perhaps it's in fact very clever and very sophisticated, only it does not wok at all - and maybe because of some very trivial oversight. In my own programs I occasionally may comment out big block of code in order...

QoS: only bandwidth limiter has effect

    > Which version of AsusWRT are you running? Merlin's latest firmware. But before that I also tried Asus native one, the latest, with the same results (followed by the trouble to get back to Merlin, because of the new compliance efforts) > Are you sure that you set QoS connection bitrate to...

QoS: only bandwidth limiter has effect

OK, makes sense. So I tried this: 1. turned QoS off; initiated two downloads of the same file from the same server (my work machine), one by ftp, another by http. After a short while, they were downloading with the same average speed 300KB/s, approximately half of download bandwidth limit. 2...

QoS: only bandwidth limiter has effect

There's no question that the latency does increase somewhat, but there's very big distance from that to having no effect at all. Once again: can you show scenario where adaptive or traditional have any effect whatsoever, however small? You said they do work. How can we see it?

QoS: only bandwidth limiter has effect

Can you elaborate how they work? so far I saw no scenario where turning them on or changing their parameters made web surfing unaffected by download (promised by Asus), or in fact changed anything at all. Can you show such scenario?

QoS: only bandwidth limiter has effect

The observation was that it looks like Adaptive QoS and Traditional QoS don't have any effect at all, and only Bandwidth Limiter does. I.e. any combination of traffic between several clients sees the same drop of responsiveness on each whether adaptive or traditional Qos is enabled or not, or...

Unable to update firmware from Asus 380.3264 to Merlin

    > That is why it was failing before. Can you elaborate? Why is it supposed to fail with connected USB?

Unable to update firmware from Asus 380.3264 to Merlin

I finally was able to do it with firmware restoration utility. Uploading Asus old driver did not work, but yet another attempt to upload Merlin's has succeeded. The only change from before seems to be having now unplugged USB drive. By the way, "just be patient" did not work (with Asus old...

Unable to update firmware from Asus 380.3264 to Merlin

ah.. OK. Sure, once I saw that it failed, I couldn't imagine that it's not the end... so I didn't leave it at all after that.
