Tutorial Using the Wi-Fi extender, the right way ✔ for MAX speed

As you can see from the picture above, there are two ways to use the extender: 1) Directly connecting the clients through the Wi-Fi Extender itself. (Top) 2) Using a 2nd Router/AP that will be connected to the extender via an Ethernet cable and then to the clients. (Bottom) This is the...

Expected speed with two 2x2 clients on 4x4 access point

Ok it's WiFi 6, I thought you were asking for WiFi 5 speeds @ 5 GHz.

Expected speed with two 2x2 clients on 4x4 access point

A 2x2 client on 80 MHz client has a max link speed of 867 Mbps, and 660 Mbps is the max throughput one can get. It may even reach 700 Mbps. 1500 is not achievable on 2x2 client cause the link speed itself is limited to 867 Mbps. See, this is my speed with 4x4 WiFi router on 80 MHz with 2x2 client.

Asus RT-AC86U vs Netgear R7800 Wired & Wireless test

The only reason I went with Netgear is because of stable Wifi, as I do backups to the USB attached to the Router. The Dlink DAP 1860 Wifi extender disconnected a few times, causing the backup to fail, but I've upgraded the firmware on it and also performed a reset so let's see if the extender...

Asus RT-AC86U vs Netgear R7800 Wired & Wireless test

It works fine, there are few minor bugs on it tho. 1) UPnP is broken on the latest firmware 1.0.5.132 2) Changing the preamble mode to short is not working on 5Ghz 3) idk if this is actually a bug but when speed on the router is set to 4800 Mbps on 5Ghz the range is terrible, changing it to...

Asus RT-AC86U vs Netgear R7800 Wired & Wireless test

Oh forgot to add this, Asus was on the latest Merlin Firmware and Netgear on the stock firmware I've never seen Asus reaching 700 Mbps, on top of that the Asus speed your seeing is there but drops to 280 Mbps or lower. I guess this is due to DFS channel or maybe my Asus router is a lemon. Oh...

Asus RT-AC86U vs Netgear R7800 Wired & Wireless test

Here is a test showing the comparison between the Asus RT-AC86U and the Netgear R7800 routers. Wired & Wifi test was performed. Wired Speed test Wifi speed test (5Ghz @ 80 Mhz) Test condition: Both routers were in the same room and in access point mode Wired client: Asus K571 connected...

Win 10 fails to do a system image backup on a HDD connected to Netgear R7800 (Error 0x80070570)

I just gave up on Win7 backup and restore and installed a third party backup software as the Win7 software is depricated. Worked well on Win7 but broke when Win8 came in. Also Netgear has stricter ways to communicate with Samba.

Has anyone managed to get UPnP working on Netgear RAX80 on latest firmware (V1.0.5.132_1.0.69)?

Could someone who has the RAX80 router or a similar one, give me a solution to this problem. Been trying to open a few ports through UPnP but it doesn't work at all. Is my last resort to manually open ports? Any older firmware to try before giving up on UPnP?

Why I prefer Wifi 5 routers over 6/6E! Fast, cheap and fun

Or you can just use the extender to connect to the existing router and then connect another router to the extender in the room and avoid half duplex issues. If I'm not wrong. Like I did. I'm not using the extender's radio to connect my clients, only using its radio to connect to the router...

Why I prefer Wifi 5 routers over 6/6E! Fast, cheap and fun

    Only Asus? What about Netgear?

    which router should i get?

This statement is true actually, Netgear is set and forget with constant speeds throughout its end of the life period. Netgear not even once rebooted. I had AC68U, AC88U and now the AC86U, all of them drop WiFi speeds or just had speed fluctuation. People here suggest doing this, doing that...

Voxel Custom firmware build for R9000/R8900 v. 1.0.4.58HF

Hi Voxel, sorry to hijack your thread, but is there a custom firmware for Netgear RAX80 with OpenVpn support? Does your firmware enable it? Just like on Asus where you can drop OpenVpn config file on the router and use OpenVpn ?

Why I prefer Wifi 5 routers over 6/6E! Fast, cheap and fun

The Wifi6 router comes with a speed of AX6000 & higher, but what's funny is their counterpart Wifi6 extenders as of now only come with a speed of AX1800. I was planning to upgrade the R7800 to that of RAX80, but it seems to me like it's too early to do that. Why would they release High-speed...

Solved ASUS RT-AC86U wifi speed on 5GHZ Fixed - Full speed attainable

I have finally solved the issue, there were a few settings that I had changed on both the routers and also upgraded the Dlink Wifi Extender's firmware. RT-AC86U (Fixed) Speed fixed: I'm uncertain as to which of them was the fix, but here are the changes that I've made: 1) Changing RTS/CTS...

How bad are the AC86U 2.4Ghz issues?

So Mr expert , if it is the power save mode on phone, then why am I getting 200 Mbps on laptop too? I have a WiFi card intel 9260 AC capable of reaching speeds up to 330 Mbps, with the Dlink router set up in the room I could get 330 Mbps. It doesn't matter what chip it has, what matters is how...

Solved ASUS RT-AC86U wifi speed on 5GHZ Fixed - Full speed attainable

Even their WiFi adaptor (USB-AC68U) couldn't achieve full speeds. Asus is flawed when it comes to networking. I would actually love to keep the Asus but it just doesn't work in my environment. I guess the EU version is bad. The US version is the one to go for, but I'm not in the US. Channel 112...

How bad are the AC86U 2.4Ghz issues?

It may reach 940 with ethernet but on WiFi it doesn't make to even 500 Mbps. It would just drop the speed to 200

How bad are the AC86U 2.4Ghz issues?

Then most probably I got a lemon. I bought this from a retail store new. Was properly packed with all the accesories, manual etc. I've lost trust on Asus routers. Their laptops are amazing tho. Been using Asus laptops for year. Can't beat them for the price, but you can't speak the same for...
