    If they are both under $100 then I'd go with the GT-AX11000 being tri-band but if you have a multi-gig WAN connection and also a multi-gig LAN connection, neither are going to be great.

    This is definitely the safer approach. I've had success moving from one router model to the next but you never quite know if the gremlins you are experiencing are from that or something else so it's better just to bite the bullet now and start over.

    I had the same issue with Skynet many releases ago and ultimately just disabled it and got an instant boost in WAN performance.

    Roku has hardcoded their DNS for a long time now, so I'm not quite sure what caused OP's Roku to be "bricked" but any solution to redirect DNS requests, like DNS Director + nextDNS, PiHole, Diversion, AdGuardHome, etc should continue to work.

    Or you could just set DNS director to redirect all DNS requests to your router and use AdGuardHome with the Adguard + Adaway + OISD Small block list and have little worry that Roku will keep up with the community block list. Having used Diversion for years, I finally switched over to AdGuardHome...

    Asked differently, what happens if you try to run this on a normal Asus Merlin (non mesh) Access Point? I’m not looking for the guest networks to talk with each other, just isolation from the main network. They can be uniquely isolated from the main network and that would meet my needs.

    I took a second look on my ipad and it seems that the frame for the speedtest is too small when I use wireguard. I don’t have this issue natively accessing the page or via OpenVPN.

    I went ahead and repeated this test on my iPhone. Both are showing that the speed test page is unavailable. Leverage private browsing on the second test to make sure there was no caching of the page. Wireguard: OpenVPN:
