amtm amtm 4.9 - the Asuswrt-Merlin Terminal Menu, June 30, 2024 (locked thread)

I selected j3u to migrate over to your fork but it’s still showing 2.4.1 after update. Now when I enter j3u, I get this: j3u /usr/sbin/amtm: line 434: case_j3u: not found admin@GT-AX6000:/tmp/home/root Update: Removing 2.4.1 and reinstalling 2.5.0 fixed the problem.

amtm AMTM doesn't like scMerlin Beta Release

Awesome. Thank you for taking this on! You may need to update your signature. ;)

sbnMerlin 1.2.6 - Network Isolation Tool based on Guest Networks, June 26 2024

Similar question. I have multiple APs in addition to my main router that has a guest network with isolation from the main network. Can I use this script to configure the APs with guest network isolation? Would be really cool if this could propagate a guest network configuration across AP nodes...

Thank you @thelonelycoder and @Martinski, FYI, and thank you for the 2.4.1 update

amtm AMTM doesn't like scMerlin Beta Release

v2.4.0 has issues that were corrected in v2.4.1

amtm AMTM doesn't like scMerlin Beta Release

@thelonelycoder - Would the update to check for beta versions similar to AGH be in amtm or in scmerlin?

Disadvantages of Access Points vs, AiMesh

I’ve spent some pretty extensive time the past couple weekends trying to sort a similar challenge. In my setup, I had one bedroom far away that got around 200mbit down and 75mbit up and I had various corners of the house that worked okay but not great. I started off by getting a 50’ ethernet...

    OpenSpeedTest as an Addon

Here's a screen grab of going from my Mac mini (1GbE) to the AP running OpenSpeedTest. AP is connected via 2.5GbE.

    OpenSpeedTest as an Addon

Got this running on my AX86U running as an AP. Thanks for the hints from everyone. I added my own below A couple clarifying things for people working through this: 1. Follow steps outlined here 2. To download and extract openspeedtest onto your router: wget...

    OpenSpeedTest as an Addon

Appreciate the feedback, but not going lie, I was bummed hearing that it’s not going to easily move to amtm. I guess one workaround is to check for Nginx and then warn/fail the install. Is it common for people to install Nginx on Asus routers?

    OpenSpeedTest as an Addon

I’m not sure if the read/write test is read out of memory or from the drive but you could try adding an SSD to see if it makes any difference.

    RT-AX86S vs RT-AX86U vs RT-AX86U Pro

NIB = New in Box. I guess you really don’t use eBay. 😀

    OpenSpeedTest as an Addon

It could be openspeedtest is single threaded but it’s odd you saw that with a wired test. Maybe @OpenSpeedTest can comment further

    RT-AX86S vs RT-AX86U vs RT-AX86U Pro

The key difference is that the AX86s/u is 3x3 on the 2.4Ghz whereas the AX88U Pro is 4x4. I personally do not have any devices that are 4x4 on any band much less 2.4 and generally relegate IOT to 2.4Ghz. Half the RAM for the S model and 200Mhz less in CPU power for both are all dependent on the...

    OpenSpeedTest as an Addon

One other question, do you have an attached SSD, thumbdrive, or something else?

MerlinAU MerlinAU v1.2.6 - The Ultimate Firmware Auto-Updater (**Thread closed due to age**)

Will this block updating from release to a new beta? Is that configurable? My core router I don’t want to update to a beta release but may be willing to on an edge AP. Also, one other suggestion. It would be cool if after entering in a custom cron schedule it could read it back out in human...

    RT-AX86S vs RT-AX86U vs RT-AX86U Pro

If budget isn’t a concern then go for it. If budget is a concern then get the RT-AX86U off ebay.

    RT-AX86S vs RT-AX86U vs RT-AX86U Pro

I just purchased a second hand RT-AX86U off eBay for ~$100 including shipping. Normally they go for around $110 with shipping. The AX86S are going for around $65-$75 with shipping and the pro’s are around $120-$130. I would skip Amazon for any of those models and the prices you stated. The...

    RT-AX86S vs RT-AX86U vs RT-AX86U Pro

Unless you are running any add-ons through AMTM, like Adguardhome, save yourself the money and stick with the 86S. I have the GT-AX6000, RT-AX86U, and have had the RT-AX86S. Other than the 2.5G WAN port, double the RAM and CPU, there is no real difference between these models. From my...
