    i finally stopped using diversion :oops: it's no longer just blocking ads it's blocking retail referral links and non commercial video hosts. i really wish coder would allow us to better distinguish what is an "ad". i'm done white listing everything i do o_O diversion may be great for offices...

    dirty .13 to .15 without issue (seeing far fewer kernal notices now) usb 2.0 flash is only running amtm, skynet and a 256mg swap file. diversion has become too restrictive, so i stopped using it for now :oops:

    thanks for the fast and definitive reply - your app is great :) if you have any links to people trying to vlan an ssid assigned thru the router's pptp client, thus not depending on yazfi to manage it - i would at least to try if there's hope it may work. otherwise, i guess i'll have to...

    i have this working on my ac3100 on an openvpn profile. i would like to try it using PPTP my VPN provider does support. openvpn is very slow on the ac3100, so i'm hoping pptp will be faster as i don't care about perfect privacy, simply keeping my wan private. i know ac2900 openvpn would be...

    i doubt they would matter to you. i'm only using the client section in my router, and used the openvpn setting my vpn provider recommends. it's also likely various speedtest on different devices yield a wide range of results, so your 20 may be my 30. all i know is, it's adequate to my needs...

    i only get ~30mbps using openvpn from my ac3100 (25 with crypto enabled, 35 without crypto enabled) this is why most here will get the ac2900 and other cpu 1.8ghz routers, because they process vpn better. i could probably get around ~150mbps over VPN using ac2900, but i don't bother upgrading...

    ok, but what does that mean? will 13_2 come out later for ac3100, or is 13_2 not appropriate for ac3100? sorry to ask for clarification, but i can't understand the gobbledygook merlin wrote in the OP :oops:

    Advice needed - VPN speed slows down, have to turn on off once a day

    see if disabling encryption stops the slow down. under crypto: cypher, disable ; fallback, none i know it's half the reason you may use a vpn but it may help narrow down the troubleshoot. on my router i don't bother with crypto and enjoy constant uptime and speeds.

    i got a steal on a ac3100 from a craiglist seller after light use (he went with some orbi mesh pucks) and notice these asus routers run crazy hot 80°c so i added a $5 usb fan to mine week one it's been working hard over a year now without issue. i suspect a lot of these asus that die in a year...

    thanks for taking the time to point this out. after i changed to 20(11) from 20/40(11) my issues did in fact diminish. however when i also used mac filter, i could not login to the router a day later. since now my 3 new phones can behave while on the 20(11) only 2.4ghz radio i no longer need...
