    ax88u new firmware 3.0.0.4.384_7997-g9176478

I've got so fed up with it i have unplugged it. May seem a bit drastic but couldn't be bothered. Got Google Nest Wi-Fi in at the moment and although i miss the control, it does just seem to work well with no issues.... so far. I am sure something will come up. May keep the AX88u in the loft...

    ax88u new firmware 3.0.0.4.384_7997-g9176478

It bricked my 5Ghz and messed my Lyra Mini up a little but a couple of reboots cleared it. Still early days so fingers crossed.

RT-AX88U New official firmware Version 3.0.0.4.384.7977

So just a further update on this, still got my channels hard set to 11 and 100 and it has been totally stable since. Not a single dropped packet from my testing and better signal strength between the AX88U and Lyra Mini AiMesh set up. WAN has been rock solid also so fingers crossed it remains...

RT-AX88U New official firmware Version 3.0.0.4.384.7977

Yeah it was just that I wanted as many devices on the 5Ghz as possible due to the bandwidth, however it isn’t really necessary. Both networks cope fine with all my devices. I’ve just gone back to channels 11 and 100 and it’s working really well now. Going to leave it as is.

RT-AX88U New official firmware Version 3.0.0.4.384.7977

Yes i do, and i keep checking. I have found the best results with using Channel 11 on the 2.4 and 100 or 48 for the 5Ghz. I stuck with channel 48 as it also allowed me to connect my Amazon devices to the 5Ghz channel, they won't connect to Channel 100. From what i can see, having the Channel...

RT-AX88U New official firmware Version 3.0.0.4.384.7977

Apologies for the running commentary on this but this is really strange. I noticed that even though i had hard set the channels on both 2.4 and 5Ghz, they weren't actually setting the correct channels. I did a reboot and the latency and packet loss returned so i have set channels to Auto and...

RT-AX88U New official firmware Version 3.0.0.4.384.7977

Well this is a little strange. Changed the 5Ghz channel from 48 to Auto (Selected 36) and it appears to be much better. Will keep an eye on this.

RT-AX88U New official firmware Version 3.0.0.4.384.7977

I am seriously at a loss here. Done another re-flash to 7977 and then a factory reset and started from scratch with a manual config including new SSID's. Tried with .ax enabled and disabled and doesn't seem to make a difference. Manual channel selection too. Driving me mad. Still seeing packet...

    [Asus RT-AX88U] Experiences & Discussion

Yeah pretty much all Amazon devices like Fire Stick, Alexa etc can't use certain 5Ghz channels but they will use 36-48 and 149-165 from memory. This is the same on all routers not just ASUS.

RT-AX88U New official firmware Version 3.0.0.4.384.7977

My Answers above. To notes that i have also raised a ticket with ASUS support although i am not confident they will resolve it.

RT-AX88U New official firmware Version 3.0.0.4.384.7977

Sorry when I say AiMesh I have a single Lyra Mini as a Mesh node for the AX88U. Laptop was connected to that and everything was fine. I forced it back on to the AX88U and started seeing packet loss again. My issue is that all this feels like a lot of effort to get a working config and firmware...

RT-AX88U New official firmware Version 3.0.0.4.384.7977

I have pretty much done this now and flashed Merlin 3.15 and it seemed better and more stable. However, just noticed that i was connected to the Lyra Mini AiMesh and not the main router. Once it moved back to the AX88U i am seeing dropped packets and higher latency. Driving me mad.

RT-AX88U New official firmware Version 3.0.0.4.384.7977

Do you think it is inevitable that i will need to do this at some point anyway if i want to upgrade the firmware? It just feels to me like there is something in the new code after 6436 that is causing issues as it happens on both stock and Merlin. I am hoping that it gets sorted ASAP. Also, do...

RT-AX88U New official firmware Version 3.0.0.4.384.7977

No i didn't to be fair. I was hoping it wouldn't be needed. I have things like a house alarm connected to a guest SSID and it is a real pain to change the network it connects to. If that makes a difference then i am happy to try it. It just seems a bit drastic in order to get a working config.

RT-AX88U New official firmware Version 3.0.0.4.384.7977

Well i flashed Merlin and then did a factory reset and manual reboot but still the same issues. I will try again with all steps but surely this shouldn't be needed. What is really strange is that all devices connect OK but i see high latency and dropped packets. This seems to happen on all...

RT-AX88U New official firmware Version 3.0.0.4.384.7977

Not sure if it is because i didn't do a factory reset but i also had issues with the latest Merlin. Just dropped packets and high latency over the Wi-Fi, mainly on 5Ghz. The only time it is stable is on stock 6436. Getting very frustrated because i don't want to be sat on 6436 for the next 2...

RT-AX88U New official firmware Version 3.0.0.4.384.7977

I tried it having had issues with all firmware since 6436 and have had to roll back again. All seemed OK initially but then i had to have a couple of Skype calls and for some reason this prompted high latency on the LAN (Wirelessly) and dropped speech. Rolled back and no more issues. How...
