    Best Buy AC2917 and Merlin

The reason I went Best Buy was two fold. 1. Amazon raised the price, then lowered it again later today. 2. I figure I have a better chance of getting a NEW router from Best buy since its a newer 2917 than from Amazon. Amazon sometimes resells other peoples returns, some that are missing...

Hmm just read this about the 86u having to do with a firmware causing cpu overheating. "Style: AC2900 | Dual-BandVerified Purchase We've been using this router for about 2 years with minimal issues. Recently I decided to upgrade the firmware to the 386.x version. Asus made changes...

    Upgrade a RT-n66u ?

Yes but I like up to date replies not old stale ones :) Appreciate the input. I think I read the new 86u are made in taiwan not china not sure if that makes any difference in quality control though. I'll run it at home a few months to test and see how it does before putting in a office.

I just ordered one of this ac-86us and wondering how reliable they are. I have two n66u (solo cpu) and a 68U which I can run for years and never reboot. I guess I just assumed the new ones would be similar. Have any of you had one running with no needed resets (other than firmware updates)...

    Best Buy AC2917 and Merlin

I think I am going to order one from Best Buy Wireless-AC2917 Now I think its a standard ac86u but wanted to verify that it will take the Merlin updates. Im guessing Best buy maybe gave it a 2917 name to be different from all the 2900s out there. Or maybe its a newer update of the 2900...

    Upgrade a RT-n66u ?

Yes I do have a spare N66u on site preconfigured. Bullet proof meant it has not gone down 1 time in 8 years. That can only be equaled not exceeded by a new one. But they are no longer supported via firmware. And it will but put into the same 3foot tall x 2 feet x 16" deep cupboard. It...

    Upgrade a RT-n66u ?

I have a RT-n66u at an office on a windows server HV domain. Its been up and running 8 years 24/7 zero issues. Down time to be is #1. If the router were to go down its cripples the office for what ever amout of time it takes to get a new one up. It handles 500/100 MB fiber and the 20...

    RT-AC1750 and Merlin?

This looks to be a rebadged Dark Knight which i have two of. But they added a USB 3.0 port and a 2.o USB port. The Dark Knight has 2 usb 2.0 ports. I think the CPU of this might be 1gz while the dark knight is 600 Mhz. Ram is 128/256. The official asus number is RT -ac1750 B1...

Thanks for the link. I have hashmy files and its very nice but did not provide the compare a known hash string to a file. HashTab fits the bill perfectly. But hashmyfiles has nice features like you mentioned. So I use both now. Thanks!

    Check sum verifier

Thanks! I had tried hashtab but I could not paste into that slot and so moved on to another program. I found out why. Webroot (my AV program) was blocking another program that also happened to be blocking cut n paste to hashtag but still worked for pasting into notepad. Goofy error...

    Check sum verifier

Merlin provides SHA256 checksum for downloads. But..... I can't seem to find a simple portable hash program that will compare sha256 string to the file I download. I get the file then I run MD5 checksum, hashtag, or digestIT to create the checksum. But then I have to manually eyeball the...

No I did not reset to factory afterwards as the merlin documentation said it was not needed. But it appears the the new firmware works but did not update fully. What is this 1/2 old 1/2 new until I do a factory reset? Can this be done remotely? I won't be able to get to the office for a...
