OpenVPN keeps on turning itself off

Thanks! That worked however starting or stopping using the router's GUI to start and stop or using scMerlin didn't accomplish it the stop and restart had to be done in VPNMON and then have reenable monitoring the clients without timers.

OpenVPN keeps on turning itself off

Have a small issue. Had problems with my VPN clients and in order to repair I removed VPNMON. Got my three clients working again and then reinstalled VPNMON-R3 including the options that I had before. The issue I would like to fix is to show the time each tunnel has been up. Currently it is...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.7 is now available

Dirty update to 388.7 on AX86S running smoothly. Took two attempts as unmounting USB drives wasn't successful on first attempt and update failed. Unmounting drives again successfully and then upgrading worked. Everything now is fine. Thank you.

Need help figuring out my Demarc to get Internet back upstairs.

Buy a cable tester such as the one shown below and then with a partner at the far end you can quickly trace all the coaxial cables...

Solved router connected to ISP router

The most common case where a double NAT will cause you difficulties is if you want to run some type of server on the network connecting to your second router. The other issue is when you contact support for a network issue they may try and blame all the problems on the double NAT.

    WAN Aggregation Question

I think what the OP wanted is to have additional bandwidth to be shared between all users since 500 Mbps wasn't sufficient and he upgraded to 1.5 Gbps and with his current router not having a 2.5 Gbps WAN port all they would get is 1 Gbps however if port bonding is a possibility with current...

    WAN Aggregation Question

You need to see if your modem and your router support link aggregation group or port bonding. In the case of my MB8600 modem I run two Ethernet cables from the modem. One to the WAN port on my AX86S and another to LAN port 4 giving my what the router what it then considers a 2 Gbps...

OpenVPN keeps on turning itself off

I use StrongVPN. The client that requires the most frequent restart is in Stockholm which is 4000+ miles distant with a typical 140 ms ping time. The Stockholm client requires a restart every 2-3 days. The domestic servers I connect to are normally good for 3-6 days. Again, VPMON is an...

OpenVPN keeps on turning itself off

I am running VPNMON-R3 just to be sure all three of my VPN clients stay up most of the time. When I check the stats from VPNMON I normally see that at least once a week some or all of the clients have been restarted. I am using an 825 ms ping time so as to not be overly aggressive on...

Single unused cable as MOCA point-point entry from fiber

Here is a link to Amazon for one particular adapter. There are others and sometimes they include MOCA in the description but I'm not sure if they will coexist with video on the same cable. https://www.amazon.com/Hitron-Ethernet-existing-Backbone-Streaming/dp/B08MQG6T61/?tag=snbforums-20

Asus moving some devices to EOL while issues still remain

If the AC68P = the AC1900P then the dual core processor is 1,400 Mhz.

Single unused cable as MOCA point-point entry from fiber

What you propose should work. However since you don't need/plan to run CATV video over the 30' RG6 cable you should also look at an Ethernet over coaxial cable adapter as another option. I can't tell you it will work better than MOCA but since it doesn't have to share frequencies with CATV...

"Upgrade" from Asus AC86U to AX86S?

The problem with the AC86 for many people is its reliability. It was a big disappointment for many people who started with an ASUS N66 and then upgraded to the AC68 both of which were rock solid. If your AC86 is already suffering problems better to move on now and not wait for the AC86 to...

    RX usage tripled

You have other options such as once per hour during prime usage times if you want which will consume less data. To save yourself from an overage this month eliminate automatic tests until the future. On my router each speed test uses between 600 - 800 MB of data.

    RX usage tripled

Your signature shows you are using spdMerlin. You may want to cut down on the frequency of automatic speed tests to reduce data usage particularly if you are also automatically testing a couple of VPN tunnels.

    Any way around double NAT?

The biggest problem with double Nat is that if you ever contact customer service they will blame every network issue on the double NAT and to help you they may want you to directly connect to their ONT/modem/router directly. The only thing that is more difficult with a double NAT is if you...

[WAN feature request] GT-AXE16000 use 2.5G port as LAN and use 2 1GB ports for dual wan

Any chance that LAG would give you most of what you want at 2 Gbps. I believe that you can run LAG either on the WAN or LAN.

Speed for second router in LAN got capped in half

A LAN port on my AX86S is connected to the WAN port of the R7000. Each router in its own subnet with the WAN IP of the R7000 being in the LAN subnet of the AX86S. Both units running in router mode. Hardware acceleration/ CTF enabled on both units.

Looking for a router that runs off 5V and has openvpn client support

My GL-Net AR750S works using a standard 5V 2000 mA power supply. Just for grins tested it using an USB power bank and as expected it worked. My travel router is a discontinued model but I would expect the newer models also use a standard 5v power supply. P.S. It also supports both open VPN...

3 story house approx 5K sq ft with limited ethernet wiring

With drywall construction installing low voltage wiring on interior walls is usually fairly simple and with an artful technician the only opening in the wall is where you want to install the junction box. Often the most skilled installers are alarm installers. Whomever you select be sure...
