    I would say option 1. If the printer has a built in Ethernet jack most of what you do on the printer is disable WiFi then use Windows to add a printer and in this case a networked printer. If you need step by step Google the process or use YouTube.

    I run VLANs on my switches so my more secure Ethernet connected devices are isolated already. No rush to buy another router as AC86 is still functioning and AX86S is OK as a spare just need to also take my N66 off the shelf and use it as an AP for IoT devices.

    Consider buying an inexpensive USB - Ethernet adapter and plug it into your tablet. Depending on the adapter you may need a conversion plug to match the USB plug on the adapter to the USB port on your tablet. I have used USB adapters with tablets and phones. They work fine.

    It might be simpler to administer your setup if you assign devices static IPs then as suggested use VPN director in Merlin's firmware. Just be careful about setting a VPN kill switch in the first VPN client as if the VPN tunnel fails all devices maybe blocked.
