Is it stupid to buy a Draytek Vigor 2926 router?

Found this thread when googling on Draytek routers. Which alternative do you suggest?

    Solved AX88u, AX86u - Merlin = no NTP

Thanks everyone for your replies. It turned out that, because in the last few months I've been having my AX88u behind another router as I couldn't use an alternative solution, the NTP server wasn't working. Lately, I thought this could be the issue but, if I remember correctly, I found a post...

    Solved AX88u, AX86u - Merlin = no NTP

Thanks for your reply. I believe I tried, as well as writing the IP address of the NTP server as suggested in some old post I found but it didn't help. Also, the basic question I ask myself is: why does it work on stock Asus firmware as opposite to Merlin's?

    Solved AX88u, AX86u - Merlin = no NTP

Hello, I used to have an AX88u w/ Merlin 384.19 and NTP sync didn't work. Did some searches and tried different solutions but I couldn't get it to work. Same issue with 386.1 alphas At the moment I am testing an AX86u which has temporarily replaced my AX88u and noticed the same behaviour with...

Aimesh: from AC86u to AX88u it works, but not the opposite

IT WORKS NOW!! Very happy to tell you that I managed to get it working. I did a 30 seconds reset, as opposite to the usual Factory Default restore via router GUI / 5 seconds hard reset and it magically works now. It seems to be consistent and works on boh Asus and Merlin firmwares. Thank you...

Aimesh: from AC86u to AX88u it works, but not the opposite

Hi, Thanks for your reply. I tried with your settings to no avail. I am starting to think it has something to do with the fact my AX88u is refurbished; when the AX89X comes out, i might give it a go.

Aimesh: from AC86u to AX88u it works, but not the opposite

Hey guys, I took some time to do more testing. Besides, I had stuff to do so I haven't reported back. BTW, I hope you are all fine - tough times. Long story short: it doesn't work. - I have been on all of the firmwares up to the latest 384.17 - I (think I) tried running my AC86u as AP, can't...

Aimesh: from AC86u to AX88u it works, but not the opposite

Hi everyone, Basically, the title says it all. Some details: AX88u as main router, hw revision 1.1, latest Merlin firmware 384.14 AC86u as Aimesh node, hw revision 1.5, latest Merlin firmware 384.14_2 Connection between routers over Ethernet cable, separate 2.4GHz and 5GHz SSIDs, default...

AC86u time based dual wan - is it possible?

Thanks for your replies. I'll try to cut it short. I used to connect with a 4G data plan which is unlimited over night but limited to 80GB/mo during day time, ie from 8AM to 12AM. Lately I subscribed to another carrier which provides (sort of) unlimited 4G data. However I happen to transfer...

AC86u time based dual wan - is it possible?

Hi I am running an AC86u with rmerlin's firmware. I'd need to set up a dual wan (wan+ethernet port) but one of the ports should be accessible only in a specified time; is it doable with some sort of scripting? I have absolutely no idea whether it is or not. Thanks.

    bi-directional sync with NAS: doable?

Gents, I have been able to do some testing: what a disappointment. QTS 4.2.4 & 4.3.3 Basically, RTRR (real time remote replication, as they like to call it) is not really real time. Oh well, it is real time while being scheduled to happen, so to speak: this 2-ways sync can be done only on a...

    bi-directional sync with NAS: doable?

Okay. I'll do my own testing at some point. Thanks!

    bi-directional sync with NAS: doable?

Yup, but those are expensive adapters which I don't need at the moment. Anyhow, for the sake of information: Akitio adapter 10Gbe bundled w/ 3T3. Do you have any clue regarding those RTRR questions?

    bi-directional sync with NAS: doable?

Hello guys. Sorry I have been missing for a while but I got super busy with work and unable to put my hands on for some proper tests. Anyhow. @sfx2000 So far, it's been impossible to get a hold of an Apple USB-C to ethernet adapter: out of stock in London. I think I found one in Italy so I...

    bi-directional sync with NAS: doable?

Nope, I haven't. I am aware it's wise to try out other channels and find the one which works best for the environment but I have such a limited time. I'll try to trouble shoot it when I can. Thanks for the hint tho. And here's the thing. I wasn't really using rsync. I did that test transferring...

    bi-directional sync with NAS: doable?

Gents, thanks for your answers. Took me a while to get back to you because I ordered some hardware to do my testing. Great, I'll keep it in mind. I am having some speed issues trying to setup a TS-253a: its download speed over the local network is ~20MB. Do you have a clue why? Here's my test...

    bi-directional sync with NAS: doable?

Hello, I need to find a solution capable of bi-directional syncing. I was thinking to buy a NAS or two, until I found out that there is no such a feature because of the impossibility to track changes to files which could be potentially changed in two different locations at the same exact time...
