Asus Merlin Router with Zabbix Agent

Been thinking of using Zabbix for some time and now found they also have a virtual virtualbox appliance for a quick start at the server end (use ovf download). Will use that initially then move it over to a linux host in due course. Thanks for the heads up re there being software appliances...

AC88U on Germany Country Code operating in the UK?

As far as I'm aware all of Europe has the same channel/power settings for wifi and the default country displayed for European settings for WiFi is often DE so your device is operating as expected if you are in the UK. (The two character country codes are from ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 so you may have...

    Daylight Saving - last Sunday

In the UK daylight saving starts on the last sunday in March. The settings in the router appear to be by the number of the Sunday i.e.1st 2nd all the way up to 5th Sunday. How do you set this for the last Sunday? If you set it to change for the 5th Sunday and there are only 4 sundays that...

AC3200 - What to replace it with?

Its looking more and more likely that my AC3200 is destined either sooner or later to end up in the not supported category so its now time to consider a replacement for when the inevitable happens. The big question is what to replace it with ? I can see that there is a list of supported...

Skynet Skynet - Router Firewall & Security Enhancements

I've manually banned a few IP's since starting using Skynet. Is there a way to export or view them i.e.get a list of what I have added ?

    CPU at 100%

Not had any more issues so looks like turning off NAT tunneling (post #6) has resolved it. Thanks for all the helpful suggestions :)

    CPU at 100%

I made a mistake reading the top output and its not a 'nice' issue but related to 'io' I've also noted that when the router re-starts then there are no aaews tasks or mastiff tasks so I've disabled the "NAT Tunelling on the Tools -> Other Settings page" (past post) . Lets hope that's fixed...

    CPU at 100%

Not sure if you meant hitop or htop ? tried opkg install hitop and it could not find the package. htop worked fine though and now shows the 'ni' column. thanks for the suggestion

    CPU at 100%

The display on the web interface is showing that Core 1 is running at 100% so I SSH'd on and ran the top command, pressed 1 to show the two cores and now I'm confused as the total CPU is just over 1%. I can see that the nice and idle values are however showing a different story. From what I...

    Device monitoring...?

Let me elaborate as typing tcpdump followed by the parameters is the end part of the process :) I'll assume that you don't already have any scripts installed but have used wireshark before and are familiar with the various options to get the most out of running tcpdump from the command line...

    Device monitoring...?

You can of course install tcpdump to the router then export the dump file to your PC to filter by device. Its a bit involved to set up if you don't have any scripts installed and are doing it from scratch but once its installed then its straight forward running it.

    DNS over TLS

Interesting discussion re VPN's however my reason for deploying DOT for me is simply to be able to continue to protect my network by using a DNS filtering service. A few weeks ago my ISP silently added in a DNS sink hole which like a black hole suck in all port 53 traffic and then returns the...

RT AC3200 limit on the number of 2.4GB clients?

I've uploaded beta 2 and have noticed that there does appear to be a speed improvement on 2.4GB however its still limited to 10 devices. Not sure if it would make any difference with a complete wipe and starting from scratch or not. ios phones connect fine and its stable I just cant get more...

Serious problem with 2.4ghz and recent firmware versions?

Sounds like the same issue I'm having on my AC3200. Up to 10 active and powered up devices appear to be ok on 2.4Ghz then it wont allow any more to connect. If one drops off then any other can then connect. This appears to be a common issue so it sounds like a bug in the new code base -...

Cannot connect to 2.5 GHz network after Upgrading Ac3200 to Merlin 384.5

There appears to be an issue with the 2.4Ghz band operation with the new code thread that was recently introduced. I've done a fair amount of testing and it appears that (on my ac3200 at least ) that you can now only have 10 active 2.4Ghz devices powered up and connected at the same time. Up...

Serious problem with 2.4ghz and recent firmware versions?

I've had loads of issues on 2.4Ghz and have done lots of checking and finally found the root cause of my issues. The issue is that I cant get more than 10 devices connected on this band at the same time. if I have 10 connected and disconnect one then I can get any other device to connect but...

Serious problem with 2.4ghz and recent firmware versions?

The other thing I've noticed is that when the code thread changed then I can only get 10 devices to connect at the same time on 2.4Ghz. Ive done some testing and the issue started with the 382 release. It would be very interesting to find out if those who are having issues with 2.4Ghz have...
