Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

AX88U and AX86U nodes on B4(b) firmware. I woke up this morning to no 5G WiFi. The band was still advertised but nothing would connect and my phone reported wrong password. Rebooted and the same. Logged into the router and switched off AiProtection and 5G instantly became available with devices...

    AiMesh - 2nd node recommendation

I brought the AC-68U indoors again - removed from mesh, reset and added again. I hadn’t noticed last time but it reported connection was poor. I ran the optimisation tool and it then reported connection as great once completed. Even better news - it now connects once situated in the garage and...

    AiMesh - 2nd node recommendation

Hi OE, I’m running Merlin 386.1 beta 2 on all. I removed the AC-68U as a wired node from the mesh in the AX-88U GUI, I then reset it and then added it back as a new wireless node. It connected in the house but it refuses to connect from the garage - my AX-88U reported it as being offline. I...

    AiMesh - 2nd node recommendation

So I've just received the AX-86U and set it up as a wired node (as a replacement of the AC-68U). I reset the 68U and set it up as a wireless node but when I switch it on in the garage it is reported as being offline and I cannot get it to connect. My garage SB Radio used to get a 2.4GHz WiFi...

    AiMesh - 2nd node recommendation

Thanks L&LD and couloutac. I have read all of the replies :). Sorry for seeming like I hadn’t and/or repeating my questions - rereading the thread I can see why it seems so! I have now ordered an AX-86U to replace my AC-68U as the wired node and am now thinking just to go the whole hog and...

    AiMesh - 2nd node recommendation

Many thanks everyone. Unfortunately, I cannot wire the second node unless I dig up the garden and drive to lay a cable. I did try homeplugs but they do not work as the electric is on a separate ring. I was leaning towards the AX-86U as the first wired node and my old AC-68U as the second...

    AiMesh - 2nd node recommendation

Many thanks OE. I think I’ll move the AC68U to our garage then and add a newer model as the 1st wired node. The AX86U is currently about £70 more than the AC86U in the UK. Added AX performance aside, do you think it’s worth spending the extra? Thanks, HB

    AiMesh - 2nd node recommendation

I’m currently running an AX88U with one wired node AC68U and AiMesh works really well. I’d like to extend coverage to our garage and garden by adding another node on WiFi (I cannot wire it) which will connect to my current node (AC68U). Main duties will be some IP CCTV cameras, an internet...

    [Thread-1] [ 386.1_Alpha Build(s) ] Testing available build(s)

Thank you - I was completely unaware of this. Yes, this is the issue! Nothing to do with the new firmware then - apologies. HB

    [Thread-1] [ 386.1_Alpha Build(s) ] Testing available build(s)

Installed A3 on AX88U and AC68U (node) and it all seems to be running well. I’ve noticed one small issue on the DNS filtering. Any devices set up with DNS exceptions (either with no filter or a different filter) appear to be ignored and the global filter is applied. HB

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.14 Beta is now available

Same here. Thanks Merlin :) HB

    [Asus RT-AX88U] Experiences & Discussion

I thought that the auto setting did exactly that for you (or at least sets a channel with minimum interference). Is this not the case? Thanks, HB

rt-ax88u net disconnect but not wan

This turned out to be coincidental. There has been issues with our local exchange affecting us and many of our neighbours causing the random disconnects. Openreach are currently working to fix the issue. I’m glad it’s not an issue with the new router though! HB

rt-ax88u net disconnect but not wan

I’ve just installed a new RT-AX88U and set it up from scratch, installed the latest Merlin firmware and am getting same internet disconnects. Did you manage to solve this with an older firmware? Which one if so please? TIA HB

    Major Issues w/RT-AC86U

I have returned my RT-AC86U today due to failing 2.4GHz WiFi after 16 months. I'm inclined to think that there is (or was on the earlier releases) a hardware issue. HB

[Preview] Early Asuswrt-Merlin 384.6 test builds are available

Same for me. This is the first time the wireless scheduler has worked on my 86U since I bought it a few months ago. :) HB

    RT-AC68U: AiProtection, IPTV and PPPoE

Did anyone get any feedback from ASUS? I logged a similar ticket on BT IPTV and apart from an acknowledgement email I have still not heard anything back. HB

BT TV (Multicast IPTV) problems with Adaptive QoS

100% cpu usage on core 1 of AC88U

CPU 1 maxes out for me too on RT-AC68U. It seems to be caused by AiProtection and the CPU usage is accelerated by IPTV to the point that the router eventually freezes and requires a reboot. If I turn off AiP it is fine - the CPU usage is back down and no router freezes. I've raised it in a few...

BT TV (Multicast IPTV) problems with Adaptive QoS

I tried the new ASUS 3.0.0.4.384.20287 firmware today - same. With AiP off it’s fine and with AiP on it has the same very high CPU usage and eventual traffic failure. I’ve not heard anything back from ASUS [emoji20] HB Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
