[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.65 is now available

@RMerlin - in an earlier post you mentioned the RT-3200 uses an earlier version of the SDK than 7114 - I searched after seeing the release notes on the RT-3200 build. Do you think this is likely to continue with asus moving forward? Do you think it implies asus may not support the 3200 as well...

    Switching AC-3200 to AC-68u

Thanks @FTC... as with most things I have an awful habit of wanting to know everything ;-) I just read up about the different switches and the additional broadcom cpu offloading in the AC-3200 earlier today which is probably a good thing for consistency.... it looks as if some variants of the...

    Switching AC-3200 to AC-68u

Hi, Do I lose much running latest merlin going from 3200 to 68? It seems to me the only significant change will be losing one 5 Ghz radio. Band steering is still in the merlin code, but obviously can only switch 2.4<->5Ghz. Do the other AI type functions etc all work the same?

    RT-AC68U / RT-AC68P / RT-AC1900 / RT-AC1900P

what are the typical versions of the AC-68u coming out of the UK (amazon) currently? do they typically have the faster CPU? may take a punt (or on amazon warehouse, though more risky, hoping the returns are "recent")

    RT-AC3200 Overclocking Benefits

@FTC what was the process for the dodgy process of updating the CFE? I'm with 2.0.0.3 (EU) and would quite like to get overclock enabled - if only for future use. (caveats/warnings aside). I'm rather wary of updating with non-EU bootloader which could affect channels etc, or indeed with going...

    RT-AC68U / RT-AC68P / RT-AC1900 / RT-AC1900P

Indeed I did. Thanks for the reminder, my point really was just confirming that to all intents and purposes, if the second 5 Ghz isn't being used then the routers should perform similarly, other than differences in clock rates - see another post I made on the AC-68u variants with varying...

    RT-AC68U / RT-AC68P / RT-AC1900 / RT-AC1900P

Interesting discussion about the AC-68u varients here. Last week I purchased a RT-AC3200 (close call to an A87u which I skipped due to the odd wireless setup). Do I need dual 5 Ghz? Nope, but I did fancy the 1 Ghz vs supposed 800 Mhz in the 68u. I've since learnt the AC3200 is hard to...

    AC-87u

So I've had the ac3200 a few days now and the firmware (merlin) is great. I've been experimenting with the dual wifi and not sure I need it but wanted to have slower clients/weaker sig on one channel... Fast on the other. So far smart connect is obscure at best. I noticed the router is...

    AC-87u support

thanks for the tips. I ended up ordering an AC3200. Right choice or not I don't know, but I was caught between the 'safe' AC-68u and the well rated but expensive AC-88u. the AC-68p, AC3100, AC1900 are not available in the UK. Both the 67 and 3200 are well discounted. but both have 1 Ghz CPUs so...

    RT-AC68U / RT-AC68P / RT-AC1900 / RT-AC1900P

Interesting. I'm in the UK and just ordered a ac-3200 as it was only around 25 more than ac68p and added the 1GHz processor. Unlikely I need the other enhancements. Can I assume performance is pretty much identical as is merlin support?

    AC-87u

I decided to try the ac-3200 as it's slightly more traditional but at least also has the 1Ghz processor. I don't need the extra wifi but I can get the router for 125 ukp. Sadly the ac1900 and ac68p or indeed ac3100 aren't available in the uk

    AC-87u support

I see there was a firmware update "added workaround for android power drain issue", and a post by asus engineer seemingly saying the issue was caused by 5Ghz connect/reconnect. So it's still unclear if fixed or still present!

    AC-87u support

that's a good point about the powersaving -- I just did some reading around it. Over in the netgear forums I see a similar device (was it the 7800?) also had the same issue with quantenna drivers, but there's some indication it was addressed in a firmware update, so I was wondering if it's still...

    AC-87u

The ac3200 is decently priced (I can get an amazon warehouse deal for around £126 vs £110 for the 68). I hadn't considered it as I don't feel I need the dual 5 Ghz channels -- however it is newer and a faster CPU (slightly) than the 68u so if well regarded it's an option. The ac3100 would be...

    AC-87u support

Are there any specific limitations to be aware of when running merlin on the AC-87u that might be a little quirky/unexpected when compared to the AC-88u or AC-68u? (More general question on this HW posted to https://www.snbforums.com/threads/ac-87u.39315/ but wanted to explicitly check merlin...

    AC-87u

I'm looking for a router to use instead of an ISP router (a Virgin Media SH3 which will end up being relegated to modem mode). I'm hitting some weird Ethernet issues, plus poor wifi range on 5 Ghz - a small 3 story house. My internet connection is 220 Mbps down, 20 Mbps up. My desktop is wired...
