RT-AX88U maxing out a core and regularly showing 60+ MB/s upload

Same issue with my RT-AC86U. Someone in another forum pointed me to this thread last week. I turned off AiCloud at that point and things were better. Turned it back on today and after a bit, I noticed the huge upload. Turned it off and rebooted and I'm good again. I guess I'll wait to turn...

    AiMesh Node Slow

I was already using WPA2-Personal and I did factory reset the AC68U after loading the Asus stock firmware.

    AiMesh Node Slow

I don't recall seeing that, but it's certainly possible. Here's some more data. I noticed that the Samsung GS23 was connecting as 2.4GHz so I disabled 2.4 on the mesh node. The phone doesn't seem to want to connect to the mesh node then, but if I bind it to the mesh node, it does connect at...

    AiMesh Node Slow

Ok, mesh node is on latest Asus firmware now. In AiMesh->System settings, I turned off Ethernet Backhaul Mode. Under network, it says uplink type is Ethernet 1Gbps. Under management, backhaul connection priority says auto now. Same 50M speed on the Samsung Galaxy S23 phone even when I'm next...

    AiMesh Node Slow

I have an Asus RT-AX86U as my main router and an ASUS RT-AC68U as my mesh node. Both running latest Merlin. I'm connected via Ethernet and have Ethernet backhaul mode on. It looks like I max out at about 50M/50M when connected to the RT-AC68U. I get up to my full 300M/300M when connected to...

    New RT-AX68U - Can't Get AiMesh Working

LAN to WAN (WAN on the AiMesh node) worked. I didn't have to reset node (not sure what you meant by that anyhow). SSID looks like after still. Don't know why wireless didn't work. Never had a problem with that previously. Doesn't matter, it's working. Thanks!

    New RT-AX68U - Can't Get AiMesh Working

WPS actually was on, I did a reset on the WPS page and tried again and it failed. Also connected an Ethernet cable LAN to LAN (is that right?) and that failed. After it fails, if I go to the WPS page, I see this Fail due to WPS time out! Any other ideas?

    New RT-AX68U - Can't Get AiMesh Working

I've got a new RT-AX86U and I can't get AiMesh working. I've got 2 spare RT-AC68Us and 1 was previously used as an AiMesh node for the other. All devices are running Merlin 386.3.2. The 2 routers are positioned right next to each other. I've reset the AC68Us numerous times, both using the...

Improve House Wifi / Keep Existing Router?

Actually, I had already seen the deal posted and I have changed my mind. I've got an RT-AX86U waiting for me at BestBuy. Also, the paypal credit is $25, not $50 and it's iffy whether it will stick after best buy issues the price match, but I'll go for it anyhow.

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.4 beta is now available

Not that it helps you, but I'm having no such issue on my AX68U.

Improve House Wifi / Keep Existing Router?

Yes, and that's why I'm feeling I made the right choice going with the AX68U over the AX86U and saving $100 in the process.

Improve House Wifi / Keep Existing Router?

Yes, makes sense and I can see the numbers in testing, but I'm still not sure it's going to be noticeable in daily use. So far, there are a couple of things where I notice the difference, but it's not stuff I do frequently. Open VPN through the router is so much faster. But, typically, if I...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.4 beta is now available

Beta1. AX68U. DDNS to no-ip.com doesn't work with IPv6 enabled (I see that noted on page 1) and I can't add a freshly reset AC68U as AiMesh node.

Improve House Wifi / Keep Existing Router?

So I exchanged the AX86U today for an AX68U at Microcenter. They actually had the AX68U on sale for $160, which is $20 cheaper than everyone else at the moment. Took me a while to get things configured, but think I'm where I need to be now. I wasn't sure which firmware to go with. I decided...

Improve House Wifi / Keep Existing Router?

No Coax runs. I'm not sure. There used to be coax where the router is and there used to be coax where I could put a 2nd AP, but that's all been decommissioned. Not sure if there's any connection between them anymore.

Improve House Wifi / Keep Existing Router?

Yes, I can't easily do wired backhaul so a tri band AP probably is best, but then I'm back over into the $250 range so no point really.

Improve House Wifi / Keep Existing Router?

Apologies for missing some of this. There are a lot of links to follow that lead to other links but no excuse. That particular quote is very helpful and I had not seen that. Sounds like AX68U would indeed give me a good bit more coverage. That may be the easy to go here. Your point about the...

Improve House Wifi / Keep Existing Router?

Is I went with access points and the old AC68U? Not sure. Maybe like Deco X20 that I could get cheap. If a single AX68U would provide me enough power, features and coverage range, sounds like that might be best, but I'm worried about buying that and still needing APs.

Improve House Wifi / Keep Existing Router?

Yes, but just for use as access points, I could get something that would probably provide me more coverage that single Asus for close to $150. Guess the question is could I get away with an AX68U? Think from power and features standpoint, I could. Is it going to give me at least some more...
