    Should I be considering the RT-AX68U instead for $70 less (or $100 less if it goes back on sale) or the RT-AX58U at $90 less. Wondering if the RT-AX86U might be overkill. What do I lose going with either of those? If the AX82U was supported by Merlin, I'd probably grab that for $65 less.

    I'm not even seeing the AX86S for more than $10 less so that's kind of pointless even if I don't really need the U version. Anything coming down the pipe in the next year or so that maybe makes it worth waiting a bit?

    Appreciate the reply! I have 300M/300M Verizon FiOS for internet. I don't use VPN too much, but that might be because speeds are slow on the AC68U, so that's a plus. I'm still trying to understand where I'm going to notice improvement. Streaming at 254Mbps instead of 202Mbps to an AC client...

    Doesn't look like it's possible to get an AX86U at the moment, at least without paying a large premium. I'll keep a lookout though. That would likely cover my house without having to worry about a 2nd one in AiMesh or vs another solution with satellites?

    When did 2.0 come out? What was fixed/changed in 2.0? I may not have really tested it well since 2.0. I'll do that this week. I don't think I'll get a new router at this point anyhow. Just one RT-AC68U comes very close to covering my whole 2500 sq ft 2 story house and enough of the backyard...

    No, but sounds interesting. So factory reset the 2nd Asus and set it up in repeater mode? How/why would that work differently, better/worse, then using it in AIMesh mode? Appreciate the help!

    Appreciate ColinTaylor's advice and that makes sense as well, but this may be the better way to go. I like all of the features I get on the AC68U. So I still plug my WAN into the Asus, but I disable wifi on the Asus? How do I then connect the non-Asus devices to the Asus to use as APs?

    It certainly looks like that first script ran, but didn't do anything as far as freeing up nvram. At least I think I have the script creating and running part down. Should I, and if so, how do I run the "one liner" from this post...
