    News RT-AX68U

@L&LD ....Not sure how you are checking CPU usage. But if you are using the GUI that is a fairly limited view. To get a more detailed view, I use Putty and SSH into the router, use the "top" command and press the "1" key on my keyboard to toggle to the view showing all CPUs individually...

Guest Network on 386 builds doesn't play nice with Chromecast, and a potential workaround

Tried the 386.1_beta2-g35e40dbcda. Same as before. Parameters are changing correctly. When the menu item Set AP Isolated is set to "Enable" and "Apply" settings is clicked, the GUI still displays "Disable" .

Guest Network on 386 builds doesn't play nice with Chromecast, and a potential workaround

NP. Will test real quick. Appreciate being able to help out.

Guest Network on 386 builds doesn't play nice with Chromecast, and a potential workaround

Below I have set both Access Intranet and Set AP Isolated to "Enable". The Access Intranet function is still working great and both menu setting and parameter lanaccess change correctly. The Set AP Isolated function now changes the ap_isolate parameter correctly, but the menu option does not...

Guest Network on 386 builds doesn't play nice with Chromecast, and a potential workaround

@john9527 you definitely have reserves of perseverance. Tested your latest g3274c93599. I did a full factory reset just to make sure I wasn't impacting the test in some way. The Access Intranet function is working great and as you changed it only sets the lanaccess parameter. The Set AP...

Guest Network on 386 builds doesn't play nice with Chromecast, and a potential workaround

Tested the latest from @john9527 which is the g706704c50d build. The Access Intranet menu option is working as wanted with Disable in the GUI setting parameter lanaccess = off and Enable in the GUI setting parameter lanaccess = on. John's fix is working so that the Access Intranet menu...

Guest Network on 386 builds doesn't play nice with Chromecast, and a potential workaround

Same result as last test. I enable AP Isolation in the GUI, and both the variable wl0.2_ap_isolate and the GUI are not changed. You are very close to fixing this.

Guest Network on 386 builds doesn't play nice with Chromecast, and a potential workaround

You are describing the change that Asus made in the 386 builds (if guest network doesn't access LAN, turn on AP isolation). This is what is being fixed.

Guest Network on 386 builds doesn't play nice with Chromecast, and a potential workaround

Totally loving it. Looks totally professional. In testing, the Access Intranet setting is correctly toggling the variable wlx.y_lanaccess. The new AP Isolation setting in the GUI is not toggling the parameter wlx.y_ap_isolate. When I save AP Isolation Enabled in the GUI, the setting in the...

Guest Network on 386 builds doesn't play nice with Chromecast, and a potential workaround

Our cat is also great at hiding in plain site. Sometimes that is the best place to hide. Really looking forward to your GUI addition!

Guest Network on 386 builds doesn't play nice with Chromecast, and a potential workaround

Just as an FYI, here is the whole list of parameters Asus is using on each guest network. I am assuming (have not tested) that lanaccess and ap_isolate are the parameters driving this function. 2.4Ghz, 3rd guest network parameters wl0.3_akm= wl0.3_ap_isolate=0 wl0.3_auth=0...

Guest Network on 386 builds doesn't play nice with Chromecast, and a potential workaround

Here is the result of patch testing. I created new Guest Networks with "Access Intranet" = "Disable" and with the patched build from @john9527 AP isolate = 0 (without the patch it would have been 1). I also updated a Guest Network where I had set AP isolate =1 and with the patched build...

Guest Network on 386 builds doesn't play nice with Chromecast, and a potential workaround

Agree with you 100%. Sorry for recapping the problem, again.. :) From my experiences on the 384 and 386 builds, AP isolation on the guest network does not impact the main network. As you state, this is definitely an issue for the less tech savvy because when they run the 386 builds their...

Guest Network on 386 builds doesn't play nice with Chromecast, and a potential workaround

You are a smart cookie @john9527 and you excel also in perseverance. Is the whole function closed source or did Asus make some parts of the source code available for the guest network?

Guest Network on 386 builds doesn't play nice with Chromecast, and a potential workaround

The "problem" created in the 386 builds is that Asus changed the behavior of the GUI settings. So in a 386 build, if you select "Access Intranet" = "Disable" and click "Apply", the Guest Network function turns on AP isolation and also updates routing. If "Access Intranet" = "Enable" then AP...

Guest Network on 386 builds doesn't play nice with Chromecast, and a potential workaround

We may all need AP isolation in an There are separate AP isolation parameters for the Guest Networks than for the main radios. GUEST NETWORK wl0.1_ap_isolate=1 wl0.2_ap_isolate=0 wl0.3_ap_isolate=0 wl1.1_ap_isolate=0 wl1.2_ap_isolate=0 wl1.3_ap_isolate=0 MAIN RADIOS wl0_ap_isolate=0...

Guest Network on 386 builds doesn't play nice with Chromecast, and a potential workaround

ChromeCast uses the DIAL protocol (not to be confused with the soap) which me thinks is like Layer 7. ChromeCast works great with guest networks but will not work when the AP isolation function is turned on. That is the crux.

Guest Network on 386 builds doesn't play nice with Chromecast, and a potential workaround

I am not using AIMesh, so you'd be a better choice to test that out. I have only tested setting ap_isolate = 0 on guest networks with ChromeCast as a fix for ChromeCast.

Guest Network on 386 builds doesn't play nice with Chromecast, and a potential workaround

@john9527 thanks for writing the patch even though it did not solve this problem. It is hard with closed source elements that is for sure. BTW, I used your fork for a long time on my RT-AC68U before it finally died. You were an extremely early adopter of DNS over TLS and converted me too!
