Should I Be Worried? (Router Temp)

This is a HW design issue! Let's call it what it is. This is a router that sits vertically so it has a chimney for cooling; it should in theory run quite cool. The RF shielding on this router (and many others) creates a depth issue preventing a flat heat sink from directly contacting the...

    RT-AX58U crashing on 386.2 beta 1

For those not following the saga of the RT-AX58U.... I sent mine back to Asus as an RMA about 6 weeks ago, Asus declared it was not repairable (NAND) and sent me a fully tested refurb RT-AX58U. It ran fine for about 7 days. The 8th day didn't go as well as I encountered the first crash with...

    More RT-AX58U woes

With my RT-AX58U, it was deemed not repairable by Asus (most likely the NAND chip based on log files). What did they do to your unit?

RT-AX3000 random crashing pointing to bcm modules

I sent my RT-AX58U to Asus six weeks ago for RMA. I had very similar symptoms as you describe, with many crashes (typically 3-4 a day) that no one else was experiencing. Asus diagnosed the router in a couple days as not repairable. Given the log files, it looked to me like the NAND flash...

What happened to my RT-AX58U? A saga of failure, an RMA and reinvention as a refurbished router.

Thanks man! In the case of my router, based on log files, I believe the Macronix flash memory is faulty. Will post when they send me a router back.

What happened to my RT-AX58U? A saga of failure, an RMA and reinvention as a refurbished router.

Sorry for the hassle you experienced, and thanks for sharing your experiences. This is my fear too, that I get a crappy "refurb" which is a router someone else returned for some reason.

What happened to my RT-AX58U? A saga of failure, an RMA and reinvention as a refurbished router.

You piqued my curiosity to see if they include a new power supply. When I get the router back, I will post if they provided a new power supply. :)

What happened to my RT-AX58U? A saga of failure, an RMA and reinvention as a refurbished router.

What problems did Asus find with your 4 routers? If you got back refurbs, how was the quality of their refurbs?

What happened to my RT-AX58U? A saga of failure, an RMA and reinvention as a refurbished router.

After experiencing many spontaneous restarts on my RT-AX58U that no one else was experiencing, I sent it back to Asus as an RMA. I did notice some memory errors (JFFS as an example) in the Asus Merlin log files which also indicated a HW problem was behind all my restarts. Asus has had the...

    More RT-AX58U woes

I just RMAed it back to Asus. So running an old Netgear R7000 with Fresh Tomato now until Asus sends it back.

    More RT-AX58U woes

Seems like I am the only one with the RT-AX58U router blues. Crashes multiple times some days. Currently on Beta 5. Not using scripts, USB drive. Just running traffic. Attached is a crash log. Would appreciate some additional eyes on this to see if I have a HW or SW fault.

    RT-AX58U crashes on 386.1 Beta 4

I loaded up Beta 4 again, and just to be sure there wasn't any issue I even reformatted JFFS. The RT-AX58U ran on Beta 4 for a couple days and crashed on Day 2. What happens? - WIFI throughput slows down to a crawl typically during video streaming - Router spontaneously restarts - The router...

    RT-AX58U crashes on 386.1 Beta 4

I haven't tracked the RT-AC68 variants since I got the RT-AX58U. I can say that for me the 386 alpha and beta versions are very feature rich, but I believe there is still an issue with stability.

    RT-AX58U crashes on 386.1 Beta 4

Probably yes. I have run the 384.17 build for several months at a time without any restarts. I have not been able to run more than 3 days without spontaneous restart on any of the 386 code based builds. Of course, the 386 code base is the future.

    RT-AX58U crashes on 386.1 Beta 4

All the Beta releases have had similar issues (even after clean install) where after a couple days the router will have spontaneous restarts just running normal traffic. I rolled back to 384.17 and it is stable as a rock. IMHO there is a bug somewhere in the 386 base or WL drivers.

    RT-AX58U crashes on 386.1 Beta 4

No. No USB or external drive connected.

    RT-AX58U crashes on 386.1 Beta 4

No scripts. Using IPv6, DNS over TLS, two main wireless networks, two guest networks, mix of 2.4Ghz (N,AC) and 5Ghz (AC, AX) clients and a couple ethernet connected devices.

    RT-AX58U crashes on 386.1 Beta 4

Have been running 386.1 Beta 4 on my RT-AX58U now for 3+ days. I am now experiencing the crashes that I did on earlier Beta releases. Nothing special going on in the router during these events (just streaming video) and no one logged into the router doing anything at the time of the crashes...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

Up 50 hours now on Beta 4 on RT-AX58U. No wireless dropouts, reboots or debug entries in log files. Beta 4 is looking like a big winner!

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

Running 386.1 Beta 4 on my RT-AX58U for about 36 hours. Seems by far the best of the alpha or beta 386 releases. Wireless performance so far has been very stable. All the functions I use seem to work well 2.4Ghz N and AC 5Ghz AC and AX guest networks 2.4 GHz and 5GHz DNS over TLS IPv6 SSH...
