    Just noticed even my Netgear Nighthawk AX6 router does that. If I connect to it but have the WAN cable disconnected, it wouldn't allow me to access the admin page and redirects me to Netgear's website instead.

    True, but I had to do that on my AX88U otherwise the router is no good if it keeps disconnecting intermittently bringing all my attached devices down with no internet connectivity. At first I thought I have a lemon but there are a few threads on this on this forum too.

    Any new firmware after 384.xx (ie. 386.xx) gives me the same issue. Install firmware 3.0.0.4.384_9579 then factory reset your router, it should solve your issue.

    correct, and that way, when it disconnects, at least it's only for a brief moment but your main internet is still there.

    no. I set up my VPN in the ASUS router and set its mode as an access point and connected my IP Phone to it. This way, when it does drop the connection, only my phone goes offline for sometime but at least I am using my laptop just fine with internet as it is connected to the Netgear AX6 router...

    I could've never imagined! It was indeed the ASUS RT-AX88U router. Seems like it doesn't play well with Apple devices because both my new iMac and iPhone 12 Pro Max had this slow connection issue. I just setup the Nighthawk AX6 router and the speed is back to normal!

    this has nothing to do with ASUS firmware! it's general computing any file you download gets blocked automatically by Windows. I updated it via LAN just fine
