[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Bufferbloat is a separate problem from lack of bandwidth. P2P will cause both problems. A simple solution is to limit P2P to ~80% or less. It's best to limit at the P2P client itself, if possible.

Did you set the bandwidth appropriately? It should be set to approximately 95% of your real-world bitrate. The router (or whatever is doing the QoS) must be the bandwidth bottleneck for traffic-shaping/QoS to work.

Sub $200 upgrade - Prosumer or Consumer?

What are your goals? The Ubiquiti devices will undoubtedly more featureful and future-proof. The two setups are quite different.

Good wireless adapter to capture 802.11n traffic?

The airmon-ng (or other related projects') documentation should mention what hardware or drivers are best. Wikidevi should have a list of hardware & drivers. What are you trying to do?

    RT-N66 with Tomato - 5.0 GHz issues

I'd Google how to view the wireless or network logs of whatever operating system your laptop is running. With Linux or OSX it'd be something like "dmesg" or "journalctl". I dunno anything about Windows. You could try deleting the saved WiFi network from your laptop and re-adding it. It may...

View the logs on the RT-N66U and the laptop and see what it tells you.

What is the max number of concurrent wireless connections on an Asus rt-n66u?

Yeah, but he specifically said he's not referring to TCP/UDP, just WiFi. 50 "normal" clients streaming Netflix, checking email, or simply idling will have a much smaller NAT footprint than just 1 client with thousands of BitTorrent peers.

What is the max number of concurrent wireless connections on an Asus rt-n66u?

I'd say something like 255 might be the hard-limit. Regardless of the number of clients you could possibly overload the RT-N66U by saturating the WiFi bandwidth or packet-per-second processing capabilities. Do you have any logs that explain what is happening when the LIFX is disconnected? Are...

What is the max number of concurrent wireless connections on an Asus rt-n66u?

With my RT-N66U (in AP mode) I commonly have ~20 clients with no problems. Everybody has Smart TVs, Rokus, Chromecasts, phones, tablets, laptops, printers, etc, etc nowadays. I handle ~40 clients during the holidays. I'm unsure what the hard limit is, but I would expect ~100 to be kinda pushing...

How to test swap partition - Entware

Swapping is usually bad. Unless you have apps crashing because of lack of memory, then it's likely that you don't need a swap. Performance increases are possible but unlikely. I'd be happy to hear of some examples where swapping increases AsusWRT's performance. I think some people mentioned...

How to test swap partition - Entware

Usually you want to avoid swapping... but, there are some sysctl values like "/proc/sys/vm/swappiness" that could could change to "100". Really though... don't do that... Why do you have a swap anyway?

    RT-N66U : Wireless upload speeds = 0, ethernet = 18

Do some sort of file-transfer between a WiFi device and local wired device. iperf or iperf3 is a good tool for such a test or SMB if you're using that. There are many options. For Android, there's Hurricane Electric's "he.net - Network Tools" on the Play Store, which includes iperf.

    RT-N66U : Wireless upload speeds = 0, ethernet = 18

Try resetting the RT-N66U to the Factory Defaults. http://www.snbforums.com/threads/faq-nvram-and-factory-default-reset.22822/ What WiFi clients are you using? What are your local speeds (LAN to WLAN)?

Best router for a symmetric Gigabit connection

Are you sure? According to most reports I've seen from people with gigabit WANs, they can fully saturate their connection with the ISP-supplied hardware, though I don't specifically remember any simultaneous upload & download tests... I mean, it'd be a bit strange to buy symmetric gigabit and...

RT-N66U High CPU usage & low speeds?

I'd try a Factory Reset before doing any drastic changes. Also, you may try John's fork. I just ran some 30-second iperf3 tests from between my Nexus 9 and my RT-N66U (well, technically the server was another wired PC). From the perspective of the Nexus 9 I got 113Mbit transfer and 168Mbit...

    ADSL wiring

ADSL usually has an adaptive error correction enabled, so lowering your speed should make no difference. You should be able to see what your maximum attainable speed is through your modem's DSL stats page. As long as your connected speed is a few percent below your max attainable speed, all is...

    Enabling Port mirroring Asus RT-AC66U

For monitoring a single host, why not use tcpdump? tcpdump is very easy to install with entware. You could either keep a log on the AsusWRT device or you could export a pcap file and view it on your PC with Wireshark. You can even stream the tcpdump pcap file in real-time to Wireshark but you'd...
