    RT-AX58U FQ_Codel issues

Sorry, but where do I find the 384_8563 update file that Merlin is referring to. Thanks

    RT-AX58U FQ_Codel issues

Stock version, as in, the factory update from Asus? Do I just flash it over Merlin to get it back to stock Asus software? Will it still have bufferbloat mitigation? Thanks

    RT-AX58U FQ_Codel issues

Thanks man. Now I tried the bandwidth limiter option with SFQ and FQ_Codel, but still get an F for bufferbloat. I've even set the bandwidth to 70% of my actual speeds and it didn't impact the normal speed. It's as if QoS is completely broken in Merlin. Ugh. I like everything else about this...

    RT-AX58U FQ_Codel issues

Would you be able to show me a screenshot or just tell me exactly where and how you set that rule. I'm intrigued if this actually works. Thanks.

    RT-AX58U FQ_Codel issues

:(I just tested all three queue disciplines : sfq, codel, and fq_codel. I can now confirm without a reason of a doubt that none of them work. I tested all three disciplines in Traditional QoS because if set to Adaptive QoS, the dslreports bufferbloat test is always F regardless of the chosen...

    RT-AX58U FQ_Codel issues

Is there a way to maybe get CAKE on Merlin through ssh or is QoS totally broken at the moment? Is there at least a way to prioritize device traffic for now?

    RT-AX58U FQ_Codel issues

Sheeeeeiiit. I had mine since August 2018. They literally fixed absolutely nothing since. Soooo many missing and broken features that it's unbelievable that people are still holding onto them. XR500 still feels like an alpha release to this day. Luckily I bought a 2 year warranty on that $300...

    RT-AX58U FQ_Codel issues

Damn that's a real bummer. I replaced my XR500 under the impression that Merlin firmware had a functional AQM. Well hopefully with a future update this will be fixed. Fingers crossed. That's the one huge advantage of buying an Asus over Netgear.

    RT-AX58U FQ_Codel issues

Is that an upcoming version? I have the latest 384.17 loaded. I've even factory reset the router after flashing over the factory software. Thanks Merlin

    RT-AX58U FQ_Codel issues

I've tried every possible permutation in the QoS settings and I'm still struggling to get a good AQM going. The FQ_codEL doesn't really work at all in both traditional and adaptive to make a difference in the bufferbloat tests. Consistently fails to get anything more than an F. SFQ doesn't...

    RT-AX58U FQ_Codel issues

I think that I might be going crazy or something is wrong, but now it has zero impact on bufferbloat no mater which QoS Type or Discipline I now choose. It's permanently stuck at F. At some point I even lost access to internet until I disabled the QoS completely. If other people are having...

    RT-AX58U FQ_Codel issues

Thanks so much for the tips! I adjusted numbers closer to the actual speed tests @ 227/11 and set the discipline to SQF. Immediately my speed and bufferbloat tests improved. I'll try tinker with the 75%-95% option and packet overhead later tonight. I've owned ASUS routers before, but I'm...

    RT-AX58U FQ_Codel issues

Hi everyone, I just picked up this router today and set-it all up and enabled the FQ_Codel in the Adaptive QoS settings page. I'm provisioned at 200/10 by my ISP and Speedtest.net/Fast.com usually shows it hovering around 230+/12+ with zero % packet loss. Bufferbloat is F. The QoS...

    Best Router for Packet Priortization

Thanks for sharing. That is quite a formidable skill set. I now see that the OpenWrt is more than just flashing or imaging a device, and that it takes extensive knowledge to get it setup and running correctly. Something that's definitely out of reach for amateurs like me who are just looking for...

    Best Router for Packet Priortization

Dang. Looks like OpenWrt can do a lot, but to set it up and configure it all like you describe, well, that's a little bit above my head. Just curious. What kind of formal training does it take to know how to do all this? Or, is it all just self taught? If you don't mind me asking.

It is what it is. Was worth a shot. :) I was more concerned with fixing the privacy issue than adding features. https://badpackets.net/over-25000-linksys-smart-wi-fi-routers-vulnerable-to-sensitive-information-disclosure-flaw/#more-2487

    Best Router for Packet Priortization

Would using OpenWrt on X86 mini PC be more stable than running on regular routers? The more I researched OpenWrt, the more I see people struggling with a plethora of bugs and glitches on all types of router hardware both old and new. Knowing this, I feel like I would never be able to trust...

    Best Router for Packet Priortization

Hmmm. I didn't know that. However, I looked up the router's specs and it looks like a Qualcomm chip inside, at least according to this page https://openwrt.org/toh/hwdata/linksys/linksys_ea6350_v3

    Best Router for Packet Priortization

I tried OpenWrt on the Linksys EA6350 and it totally locked up on me within less than 24hrs, so I had to go back to stock firmware :(
