[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

I still have this extremely high sirq% on AC66 since upgrading from 23E to 31E, and now to 32L. Used to router is ~75% idle at 100 Mbps wire speed one direction, or 80/80 bidirectional. Now, nearing 100 Mbps sirq% will be 80-99% and 0% idle, reachin anything above 50/50 bidirectional is hard to...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Extremely high sirq use, AC66 fully utilized at 100 Mbps, previously load only 10-20%. Upgraded from 23E to 30E and then 31L, now router is fully used at only 100 Mbps line speed, 0-5% idle. Did factory reset and input all settings again manually. Tried without customs scripts. No help. Hardware...

Got me, didn't have DoS protection enabled on my AC66U, after enabling limit: $ iptables -m hashlimit --help iptables v1.3.8: Couldn't load match `hashlimit':File not found $ iptables -m limit --help limit v1.3.8 options: --limit avg max average match rate: default 3/hour...

Wish: limit/hashlimit module to be able to rate limit packets. Very useful against all kinds of malicious activity. Now it says $ modprobe limit modprobe: module limit not found in modules.dep

    Chrooted Dropbear? for Mips

Is there a ready package, or even just a compiled executable? Would settle for a generic path like /chroot/dropbear . Running AC66U with John's fork and Optware. I've no idea at all how to go about compiling that myself so if a ready one isn't found, could someone please, pretty please...;)

Skynet Skynet - Router Firewall & Security Enhancements

Sorry just can't read all 104 pages... So, can it do a timeout ban for x hours? The functionality i'm looking for is, get hit on sensitive ports (21-23, 80, 135, 137, 139, 389, 443, 445, 1900, 3268, 3269, 5355, etc) -> ban ip for x hours. And automatically unban after x hours elapsed. The...

I've gone double full circle Merlin->John->Merlin->John but I believe the length rules are only from the days of Merlin. Wouldn't expect iptables to differ. I'll be very grateful if you can check on -m length and -m hashlimit, would need them both. Well length can be done with tc filters but...

It's right there. Something very weird now. Unfortunately can't reboot this thing right now, but there's nothing else that seems to be wrong. Only that -m length --length doesn't play ball. Same result with -A PREROUTING. -I doesn't work either. Use something else than length and everything...

This used to work in Merlin releases? No idea what's going on here. Dear lord save me from needing to write tc rules. min@AC66:/jffs/scripts $ iptables -t mangle -A QOSO -p udp -m length iptables v1.3.8: length: You must specify `--length' admin@AC66:/jffs/scripts $ iptables -t mangle -A QOSO...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 380.59 is now available

Not fw but ac66. That's exactly how the issue manifests itself. 5ghz unusable for all devices, possibly with the addition of spontaneous reboots. May happen with any fw version and asus fw reflash and factory reset is the only cure found this far.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 380.59 is now available

Still on 56-2 but in general reflashing with Asus official fw, doing a full factory reset, then reflashing with Merlin and reconfiguring the router, has always solved any funny behavior in ac66, most often in the form of 5hz channels stopping working and router making a spontaneous reset every 5...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 380.59 is now available

If you're using all this the first thing is to check that you're not running out of processing power since all these, when active at the same time, can be quite taxing on ac66 single core cpu. If your cpu load is less than 95% at all times (while vpn in use, downloadmaster in use, dlna being...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 380.59 is now available

Please keep the fq/codel, people have different needs, some while ago when I had time to play with qos in depth concluded that codel would've been what's needed for very congested links like mine, unfortunately a little short on free time now.

Sharing download bandwidth fairly AND efficiently... has to be a way?

You need to get down and dirty with tc. What you want to do is to create a leaf for each ip address in your subnet, as opposed to the way stock Asus does it with just one main leaf and 5 classes. So you'd make a shell script which creates leaves for ip's 0-255 and each of these will have 5...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 380.57 is now available

My AC66 gets 5G issues sometimes when upgrading, and the only working solution is to flash (latest) Asus original firmware and factory reset, and then flash Merlin. I wasted a perfectly good sunday trying to search for an alternative solution when this happened upon upgrading to 56_2. Hope you...

    Turris Omnia: hi-performance & open-source router

The campaign was 858% funded on Jan 12th but you can still get a Turris Omnia for $229, now they also have a 2GB RAM upgrade for $49, and LTE module for $119, that's going to be a kick butt router. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/turris-omnia-hi-performance-open-source-router#/story

With iptables, for example iptables -t mangle -A POSTROUTING -s 192.168.1.128/25 -j CONNMARK --set-return 0x5/0x7 assigns priority Lowest (from Asus browser QOS setup) to that range. Which table you use is up to you, it doesn't have to be postrouting, depends how you set it up.

QOS makes all the difference on a congested link (90-100% usage)...it can either be horribly unusable or so smooth and responsive you won't even suspect it's actually totally loaded. Asus interface for classic qos is enough for this, just need a bit more exact classification rules in iptables if...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.56_2 is now available

Outside US, didn't come to check bssid when 5G didn't work. Just to recap, this happened while moving from 55_0 to 56_2. For some reason when this happens (luckily rarely!), flashing to any Merlin fw won't fix the problem, have to go with original Asus fw first, then Merlin, at least that's my...
